Root ENG Bootloader options?

Has anyone that's used the 1.04 Engineering hboot noticed the extra options in there?

Simlock
MFG Kernel
Image CRC

What are those 3 options and what do they do? Always been curious and I really don't want to be too curious and anal probe it like Destroy All Humans
