There will be learning curve but it's a pretty easy phone to use especially once you have it tailored to fit your needs and personality. Took me about 2 weeks to get my Eris working the way I wanted it and it was pretty much my first smartphone

You're going to love it, the Incredible is just that Incredible

My post from another ridiculous thred on the same topic...

These posts are insane. There will ALWAYS be a new phone with this or that and if you keep waiting everytime one is announced or rumored, you will NEVER own a phone :). The Inc. is awesome and does all that it needs to, come on guys these are cell phones not cures for cancer :)
I'm so sick of reading who is switching to the EVO, who is waiting for the shadow, who will wait for their phone to renovate their house :) Face it, these phones are awesome new toys and after a few months of playing they go back to being what they are....PHONES

LOL :) Cell carriers drool over this nonsense, why do you think there is an early term fee? So many idiots willing to pay it to get the newest shiny toy. Any guesses as to why these phones don't come out closer together. They saturate the market wait until the 30 days, etc is up and then announce a new phone.
These phones are already made, they are just waiting for the latest to lose some luster and then release the next one. My brother is a media manager in a large marketing firm, believe me it's very true.

As everyone is saying in this thread, there's always another phone around the corner. I wasn't expecting another Moto Droid so fast but in the end I'm very satisfied with my Incredible purchase. It's going to help me get through my trip to LA next month and help me while I'm there. We all have to make informed decisions and with most phones using the Snapdragon Processor (with no immediate and better alternative) it was a safe bet to go with the HTC Incredible seeing how it probably won't be "out done" by any other phone anytime soon - and if it is, it wouldn't be by much.

Do I want the Motorola Shadow? Probably. But I'm always wanting the next best thing and you just have to settle down sometimes and accept it that you won't be able to afford the next best thing every time it comes out. Android phones are quickly building up momentum and we're seeing many big releases much closer to each other rather than the traditional "wait till the fall" releases. It's a much more difficult market to shop in now without having some form of regret in a few months. However, in the end, I'm very satisfied with my phone am glad I got it when I did.

I was planning on waiting until the end of the summer, but after researching the Dinc I decided it would be more than suitable for my foreseeable requirements. Like many others I think you will end up waiting forever if you want to get the "best". From what I see pending, I think the Dinc is the best for me. I think next summer will be more interesting than this summer.

Im with you there! I used to have a Samsung i760 (which is hardly a smartphone...it sucked) and now im back to my dare until my Inc comes!

All I know is that my son has the Moto Droid, and I have an Incredible. He will tell me out of the blue how my Incredible sucks. In 19 year old speak, that is as good as saying I am super jealous.

I don't think I would wait. I haven't heard any talk of a faster processor on any phone, so I think the Incredible will still be going strong at the end of the year. There are even more phones coming out with the same processor as the Hero, so I don't think any Incredible owners have anything to worry about.

There may be a better hammer around the bend tomorrow, but for now I've got nails to hammer in.

My smartphone is my tool. I need it to function. When my tools don't accomplish what I need them to do, I get newer and better tools. That's why I left behind my Palm Treo 755p and got my HTC Incredible.

Yeah, there may be better tools out there tomorrow or next month. But I'm not out to buy toys, I'm using tools, and as long as this one works, it's good enough for me. When it stops accomplishing what I need it to accomplish, I'll move to the next one.

If I had waited for "the next" PC back in 1984, I'd still have a memory typewriter.

No, this is exactly the right time to buy an incredible. Yes, in the next several months to a year, there are going to be major breakthroughs in technology - at least for the tech that is put into phones.

I intend to sit back with my Incredible and watch it all wash out. Once the market has adjusted and the smartphone technology becomes standardized, I will be ready for a new phone. 15 months - all that is typically required by Verizon to obtain promo pricing - is a very short period of time. Hell, 7% of that time is still within the return period.

Look, I love Engadget, but they (and every other tech site) told me the HTC "Passion" was right around the corner when the Droid was released. And so I waited. And waited. And waited. Until finally, the Passion became the Incredible, and it was released 5.5 months later. I'm certainly happy I waited as the Droid is not what I was looking for (I wanted touch screen only), but there is always news something is right around the corner, and oftentimes, the rumors are incorrect. On top of that, by the time these other phones drop, there will be other phones "right around the corner" which many will say warrant holding off. Eventually, you need to pull the trigger with a device that meets all your needs, as the Incredible does mine, and the next go around look forward to what else is on the horizon.

For once, I disagree with Engadget. Particularly because none of the rumored phones are "mind-blowing."

I saw the rumors on HowardForums about these phones and I was seriously considering returning my Incredible and waiting. I decided not to, the dealbreaker for me is that both of these are made by Motorola. I was a huge fan of them for a long time however my last phone from Moto had awful issues with the microphone. No one I talked to could understand a word I said it was described as garbled, underwater, muffled, etc. The tipping point for keeping the Incredible was when I saw posts from people having the same issue with the Droid.

I was happy with my Dare for 2 years, I will be happy with my Incredible for at least one year. Now that I know it is so easy to persuade Verizon to move up my renewal date by 1 year LOL!

Acted too soon. I've been waiting for 6 months. You are obviously new :p

This. Most of us have been anticipating this for a long time hounding the forums. We have no reason to regret.

Absolutely silly - we would have to be fools or greedy ignorants.

Extended battery availability and Froyo for the Incredible - and I cannot see how the Shadow or Droid 2 will be better than the Incredible.

Coming from a blackberry, I really love the Incredible. But that being said, I signed a 1 year contract for a reason. I plan to upgrade more often, so no more 2 year contracts for me. I want the latest and greatest as much as I can afford. A new phone every 10 to 12 months really isn't waiting that long. I fully expect that by this time next year the Inc will seem a bit outdated though.

"Even with great choices like the Incredible and EVO 4G on the market, like we said on last week's Engadget Show, there's never been a better time to wait on a new mobile purchase." - quote taken from this article on some new phones coming to Verizon, eventually: Motorola to launch two smartphones on Verizon in July, says WSJ -- Engadget

Do you agree with the Engadget writers? There are some cool phones coming out soon. Do you think you acted too soon? It would be too bad to be stuck with something you don't really want, just cause you wouldn't wait a few months.

Personally, I think the Incredible represents a watershed moment in smartphones. From this point on the rules of smartphones don't apply. You'll need to get a new phone every couple years, and take care of what you have to make sure your equipment runs cleanly. Phones aren't going to follow the rules of phones anymore; they are going to follow the rules of computers.

The Incredible is a grossly under appreciated step forward in technology. It represents the beginning of a time when a smartphone is no longer a gadget to be outdone a few months later (sorry EnGadget), it is a computer, and is capable of anything.

Do you wish you'd waited a few months longer? Do you expect to ditch your phone in the fourth quarter? Why, or why not?

I agree with you on this one i have no regrets buying a droid incredible and this is a phone that could def last my entire 2 year contract if i want it to.
