Enought With the Hate

Ok. I am starting to get pretty done with all of the hate in this section of the forums. Just stop posting the please don't buy this yet and others as well. everyone here wants help and tips with their kindle not people telling them why they should not have bought it. Just stop it, its not worth it.

Thanks. One or two threads perhaps is fine but they seem to be proliferating.

In any normal forum I have been to in the past 15 years, that would be considered trolling. On usenet of course it would be expected, but then again that is one of the reasons I don't bother with usenet anymore.

There are millions of these things being sold, and so there will be people be looking for answers, or improvements. Not hate, or people telling them they are stupid or their product is lousy.

I agree I am sick of hearing about how it is not an ipad killer and it really is not that good. It is a great idea for 200 and does most everything an ipad can do. Please someone give me a better android tablet. The android tablets that are on the market just are not that good. I had the first galaxy tab and wow people don't like the fire try that thing out. Also there are all these people getting mad because of the new update cause they are losing their root on it. WHY IN THE CRAP WOULD YOU BUY A KINDLE FIRE TO ROOT? The fire is not something to root. The specs are not over the top and are not suppose to be. The fire was built to run the custom amazon android. It has the right amount of power for that. Just wish people would shut up.

I don't see an inordinate amount of negative threads here. It's just about what's expected with a new device with a lot of hype behind it. The negative posts should settle out as time passes. If you see something that you consider particularly egregious, before tempers flare, please click the report button.

To tolerate this is to condone bad behavior. Enough with the snark and hate already.

I own an ASUS Transformer (love it) and bought two (2) Kindle Fires as gifts this Christmas. Trust me, I know and appreciate the difference between these devices and made a value judgment about the Fire's usefulness to the gift recipients.

Here is how bad it's getting: (Ford Mustang manual transmission)

"In its letter to the NHTSA, Ford says that while it had a few reports of mechanical issues, blogs and forums exacerbated everything by urging visitors to report problems to NHTSA with the phrase “safety concern.” This is the bright line U.S. auto regulators must cross when deciding whether a car’s defect needs a recall."

"Ford believes the majority of complaints resulted from an “increased social media focus by a couple of dissatisfied customers,” plus “improper vehicle modifications” and signs of vehicle abuse such as rear tires worn more than front tires from burnouts. The automaker stated that the complaints also came from “customer unfamiliarity” with the differences between the 6-speed and former 5-speed transmission, along with a skip-shift feature for fuel economy." (by Felix Mckenna On Friday, November 25th 2011 in Automotive)

The bashing creates an online mob atmosphere that feeds on itself and ratchets up until it becomes "common knowledge" that something is wrong. Recognize it when you see it and please don't feed the trolls...

I agree. The problem for some is they have buyer's remorse and look for justification. They want to confirm that they bought the best device. When they read negative comments, they sometimes become upset. In my opinion, as long as naughty words are avoided, or and you do not call someone a fool and you avoid general nasty behavior, when one starts a thread, they should expect differing opinions.

Fact is, for what the KF does, it is OK for a few hundred dollars. For me, it is useless because it lacks the features I want. I generally state why I do not want the KF. I might purchase one on eBay or CL when it drops in price, but it will be for controlling other things and only if the price is right.

It is interesting if you look at the other threads, lots of people want to root, install/sideload apps, and do things the KF is not designed to do. Not sure if this speaks to dissatisfaction with the KF or just a small group of people looking to expand the capabilities of the device.

Surely, like the iPad jailbreakers and Android rooters, these things people gathered her want to do are not representative of the whole.

As a potential tablet buyer.. I must admit I find the kindle fire lacking and it is somewhat annoying people are completely overlooking that Nook Tab and other tablets in favor of the kindle fire.

As a Samsung Captivate owner, I know how it feels to be overwhelmingly happy with my device and to have a bunch of people talk crap about it for no good reason.

I do agree.. there are better uses of time than bashing a device you don't even own.. The thing is 200$ and sure it lacks a micro SD card, but hell.. some people are happy with what they get.

Don't like it, don't get it.. No reason to disrespect those that did..

I think it makes people mad when they are bashing things about the fire that the fire was not built to do. There is no reason to buy the fire if you want android tablet. This is a Amazon product that just happens to run a very customized version of it. I love my fire for the most part. The netflix app is not good but they are working on it. If I want I true tablet I would get the Ipad. I had the galaxy tab and really did not like it. Android is just not there yet with there tablets.

I am pretty tech savvy, and I still like the fire very much. I knew when I bought it what it was going to be. I want to surf the internet watch movies and play games. The fire can do all this and do it well. I own a Nexus s which takes a lot of know how to work, but I love it. I also have a macbook when I really need something that is fast and I can do work on. I want a tablet that I can use for fun, and that is what you get with the Fire.

While my solution is really simple.. I vote with my wallet..

I do have to disagree.. I think there is a lot of reason to be annoyed amazon intentionally left out a micro sd card slot making the device in a lot of ways worthless.

8 gigs is a very, very low amount of memory.. and the lack of an SD card slot cuts it off from more than just being a tablet..

So, I do see why a lot of people are annoyed.. ESPECIALLY when like myself.. you are considering a tablet and it keeps popping up everywhere despite it being useless as a tablet.

With that said, that is no reason to run around telling people who bought it they should be unhappy with their purchase.

The device is overhyped which is where we have all the problems coming from, but that doesn't mean there isn't a market for it.

There is a problem with what you are saying. The people buying this device DONT CARE ABOUT THE MEMORY ON THE DEVICE. It has the amazon cloud service for a reason. Like I said I had a android tablet and it was crap. Google is trying to make a OS that runs on a phone work on tablets. Now they are doing better with ICS from what I hear, but still not as good as the Ipad. I am not an apple person I like google a lot. Apple has just been better with the tablets thus far.

People that are buying the Fire just want something simple to use and operate like IOS. All the people that want a cheap tablet that you can root and do all this crazy crap with it need to just steer clear of the fire. It is just not mad for that.

But they dont need to make multiple threads on the lack of the SD card to state that opinion.

I don't like that lack either, but I bought it anyhow because at the time the Nook tablet had not been announced. Then I almost cancelled in favor of the nook and learned about their crummy partitioning.

Bottom line this device is for my wife and kids to play games on, and watch movies and read. My kids can't mess it up they way they currently do my wife's android phone.

And dont get me wrong either - I have little use for the cloud, personally. I have slow internet at home and with no VPN client (especially one that handles ipsec group authentication) , can't use the Fire at work either.

But as ou said - there is a market for it. For me, it is what I wanted for my family's use - an entertainment machine that is a fully-baked product ready to use even by non-technical folks and they can't screw it up too easily.

I don't see an inordinate amount of negative threads here.

Neither do I. Unless the OP doesn't like seeing support issues repeated by more than one user.

"Hate" is a powerful word. I did see it bantered around in the Captivate device forum for a while (called the "craptivate" by some disgruntled users there :D), but that's just how most people feel when they've spent money and either found a bug or haven't learned much of the ins and outs of their new device. And all devices have those ins and outs. ;)

I kinda hear where the OP is coming from - you dont see as many negative threads like "Don't buy this yet!", and "No SD card??!"" "No (fill in the blank: google maps, android market, camera, etc., etc)??" in other devices' forums.

Of course I'm putting words in the OP's mouth, but I believe he's referring more to posters who don't own a KF and knock it, rather than to disgruntled owners who are complaining.

Off topic: still using your Eris, Frisco?

Coming from owning a bb playbooks and 2 ipad 2 devices I love my rooted kindle fire plus plays flash games and videos just fine.
