Help Epic 4G battery questions.

Hello I wanted to know if anyone has any way to make my battery last more than 8 hrs. i use the internet about half hour a day id say. and don't really touch it except for an occasional text. phone updated recently to froyo ec.05. i got a new samsung original battery and charged it for 5 hrs its first charge like samsung reps told me. and still it is really lousy. i have nothing syncing and have data on. i have the screen brightness set to lowest on both home and internet. i have juice defender running most of the time but it doesn't seem to be helping life of battery. i always shut apps ect from task manager asap. i have tried everything. (atleast i think i have) i want this phone to last at least 15 hrs like my friends epic 4g. someone please help. do i need to root it? is thier a saver app that works well is ec.05 out dated what should i do? Thanks btw i am new to this cell phone.

Sounds like you may need to calibrate your battery. That should help it some. Rooting would definitely help but you should want to do it for other reasons too. Media hub app is a known battery hog so making sure that is turned off helps. Alot depends on different variables, a biggie is you reception. If you always have good reception then maybe. But if you are in areas where its spotty then it will be tough no matter what you do because your phone uses alot of juice looking for signal.
