As far as I know the only way is to root your phone (if not rooted already) and install the app Wireless Tether, (or similar such programs) which you can download from Market. Otherwise you are stuck paying Sprint $30 a month for their mobile hotspot service.
Junefabrics has software that will let you use it as a modem. Free trial. I have used it on other platforms as well as this one and been successful. Not the easiest set up but I did get it working on a recent trip. Saved me $7/day for internet at the hotel.

So what you are saying is that is I root my phone and download "app Wireless Tether" I will be able to stop paying $30 and use it for FREE, no bandwidth cap????
