Epic has lanyard loop!

I was looking at the back of my Epic with the battery cover removed, and it looks like there is a lanyard loop hole right above the volume keys. It's designed to loop a thin lanyard around it.

Very cool find. :)

Sorry to burst your bubble, but i don't think that's a lanyard loop at all. It looks just like all the other little slots all around the perimeter of the phone with nothing to loop around. And, there's no gap in between the battery cover and the phone to let it come out of.

That actually is a lanyard loop slot. If you open up the battery cover, you can see there's a small "pole" in a recess right in front of where that hole is. If you slide a lanyard into the slot, and loop it over the hole, and then close the cover you have a perfectly secure lanyard for your phone. Not that I know anybody who would actually use one for a phone like the Epic, would probably get in the way of using the keyboard.

Ok, being a dummy, what is the purpose of this anyhow? "Oh, look what I found. It means nothing to anyone, but I found it! Woo Hoo!" Without saying the benefit, why bother....really. And then to argue about it?

The purpose of it is to allow a secure strap to hold onto the expensive phone and minimize drops.

There are quite a few people here who have dropped their Epics, and lots of people who have dropped their Android phones in general.

If this is not self evident, then all I can say is LOL... :D:D

Look, I found that Android makes phone calls... errrr I better explain why that's useful... ;)

I always use the lanyard on my digital camera when operating it. Now using it for the phone might feel odd but my phone costs more than my camera, thanks for the tip!

It's good for phone charms and such. The purpose of those is to make your phone have an accessory or personalize it. Practical use includes a "catch" to use so you don't drop your phone, some contain a soft pad for screen cleaning, etc.

Bravo! I hooked on a lanyard. Love it!

Yes, I must admit to being wrong. That IS a lanyard hook. I need to learn which side is which on my phone LOL.

I use mine with one of those detachable neck straps.

Reason:
I keep my phone in my shirt pocket and take it out very often and way to quickly sometime. With the neck strap connected I don't have to worry about losing my grip and dropping 500.00 to the concrete. For regular use I just disconnect it from the strap and only have a small plastic clip connected to the phone.
