Epic Inventory Only Enough For Those With Reservations on Launch Day

I have a reservation at one of the busier Sprint stores here in Denver and gave them a call, the person I spoke with informed me that there are phones available to walk in clients as well. I also called the nearest Radio Shack and was told that they are getting 3 Epics in but only had one reserved at this time.
 
No Sprint store in my town...but the Sprint kiosk at the mall told me that they have about 10 coming in, with only 2 preorders (as of Friday). I'm not sure about Radioshacks here and for some reason our Best Buy doesn't carry Sprint...apparently the only Best Buy in the region not to have Sprint.
 
Im #2 on the list at my local best buy, so i dont care how many they get in as long as there's one reserved for me. LOL. I made sure to put my gift card and receipt in the car this morning so i can go straight from work to BB.

I'm #3 and as long as they get at least 3, I'm happy!
 
My Best Buy said the same thing. As long as I pre-ordered, I'm fine. They're not taking appointments because they're only getting enough stock for the amount of pre-orders they took.
 
I just got back from a Sprint store near my work. They got 30 in, but only have 12 people on the reserved list. I can call in the morning and have them save 5 Epics for my family and me.

Oh retail...lol...they say cause they want you to buy. You have it preordered for a reason. If you get there and they sold out and you have it on pre order...I can almost say if you call retentions...some good may come out of it.

I did an online chat and called retentions just to make sure that I will not have a problem and that the phone can be charged to the account.:D
 
Did you guys ever think of this? (Not to be a jerk.) That they tell you they won't have enough so you pre-order/deposit and essentially come there and pick it up quickly and they don't have to call person, after person, after person on big lists and waste their time? Especially when people are putting their name on 2-3 lists.

I'm just saying this because I asked this morning when I was at Sprint seeings I was the only one there and just hanging with the reps while they did all my activation and added my new line, etc. I've never pre-order, bought on launch day etc. This is actually the most I've ever spent on a phone so my response is based soley on what a rep told me. :)
 
As a Sprint employee and someone who's spoken with Samsung reps, there should be plenty of stock to go around. Most Sprint retail stores should have Epic 4G stock on hand and more coming daily/weekly, more than just pre-order allotment. The exact number will vary by store and location. I can't speak for Best Buy, Radio Shack, Wal-Mart or other resellers.

The retail store manager I spoke with this morning said their DMs are "couriering" stock to stores that are selling out same day. IF -big IF- you find a Sprint retail store that's out of stock, and IF you don't want to order from sprint.com, then ask the store mgr when they will have more stock on hand. It will probably be same day or next day.

at 11:30 am, i was first at my store (opening early at 8) ... not much interest although employees had blue epic shirts. this one person in this thread is the only report of limited inventory. i think there will be way more than enough to go around.
 
I can confirm it is NOT true you need a confirmation. My daughter and I showed up at our local sprint store at 7:20 this morning, there was NOONE there. We waited and chatted with the employees off and on, when the doors opened at 8:00 it was us and 1 other person who came in. The store manager said sprint told them noone had preregistered for a phone to be picked up at that store yet they had stock. I showed his my receipt that specifically listed his store and he just laughed. Anyway, the epic is out there, go grab one if you want !!

Not sure why this launch didn't blow up like the Evo but let me put this in perspective, I live in NYC went to my local Shack and walked in asked if they had any left. The guy told me he had 13 phones and 3 pre-orders, I was the first one to come in and it was almost 1pm! I don't know if people are scared or if everyone simply used their upgrades on the Evo but wow, people have NO CLUE what they're missing. This phone mops the floor with the Evo, it's not even in the same league.

Think you're going a bit far there.:rolleyes: And for those of us that dont like keyboards there was no benefit to making the switch.

I'm a morning person, and I usually get to work by 7 or so. I got up a little earlier this morning to see what kind of lines there were, if any, and got there at about 6:25am. They already had a store full of people, and decided to open at 6am. I got a phone, but the guy said at the rate they were going, they might be sold out by 8 (could have been trying to make me feel better, but like I said, every station was busy with someone buying an Epic). This is in a north Dallas suburb.

Had the EPIC come out prior to the EVO, I just might have gotten it. Even if it is more responsive and less buggy out of the box, I'm still very happy with my EVO and wouldn't think of selling it just to buy the EPIC.

There are certain areas that have bugged many people about the EVO, but overall, it's still a great phone. That's saying a lot for me because I was a diehard physical qwerty keyboard guy until I got the EVO. Now, unless a phone comes out that is just as thin as the EVO (or thinner) and has a physical keyboard, I don't know if I'll ever go back.

As thin as the EPIC is, I just can't see myself going back to having a full qwerty unless they get so thin to the point that they're just as thin as phones without the qwerty.
 
Picked mine up today at Radio Shack. The guy told me they received only ONE UNIT more than what was reserved, and it sold right away. They plan to have more next week, and they do not expect shortages like Evo.
 
Just picked up my Epic after I got out of work, was in the store about 4pm. In and out of the store in less than 30 min. No line, No waiting. Clerk said it hasn't been crazy. Every now and then a person picked an Epic up.
