Help EPIC problems with my home Wifi connectivity

Hello everyone -

Hey, I apologize if this has already been posted, but my Wifi at home is giving me issues. When I'm on 3g or 4g my internet related tasks are pretty good. The youtube app streams along, and internet browsing is good. However, when I'm at my apartment I'm constantly struggling with keeping a decent online experience with my EPIC. I shouldn't have to be on Sprint's Network if I have my own connection, but sometimes I'm forced to because my Wifi just craps out. The youtube app loads a video a bit, then it just stops, or takes a while to continue streaming. Sometimes there's a pause in loading web pages when connected. I can't sign on to oovoo over my wifi....

Urg, my Epic sais i have an excellent signal. Usually when I'm using the connection I'm in the same room as my router! i have a Netgear wireless G router. Do you guys think getting a wireless N will fix this issue since the Epic is wireless N capable. My brothers Itouch works perfectly, so does my laptop. My old samsung transform worked fine with my home wifi...

What could be the issue?

I use my Epic with my old Linksys Wireless-G router all the time. Try going into your router's settings and enable DMZ for the IP address your phone is using.

Also make sure your not sharing a channel with your neighbor.
You have 10 or 12 channels (i think) to use for WiFi. If you and someone close to you is on the same channel the interference will cause your thru put to be horrible. You can get WiFi Analyzer from the market and see what is around you WiFi wise.
test the WiFi on your device at another location with another WiFi hot spot and see if you have speed / connectivity problems with that as well. If not this eliminates your phone.

Thanks for your replies guys, so far....

The connection seems to work fine, but it has trouble streaming video..whether flash content or on the youtube app. I think after playing around..I can get a match. There shouldn't be a prob though seeing how other devices are really fast with this router. Well, I've been meaning to get a wireless N anyways..my current router is like four years old....

By the way, when I changed the channel from 11 to 10 my laptop now sais that there is a conflict with a similar IP address on the network.
Also, what is DMZ?

LOL I am no computer expert but changing the wireless channel assignment has nothing to do with an IP conflict.
Myabe its time someone with a little more experience comes over and helps you clear out the bugs.

From what i have heard flash on these devices is not the best anyway.

One thing you dont mention is doing a speed test.
DL the app from the market and report back to us what your getting for the test.
For example at my office i get about 50ms seek time, 10meg down and about 1 meg up.
What might be happening is your device has other problems and when you try to use something processor intensive, watching a video, it might be bogged down.

Yeah, that's true. There could be a slew of other reasons why its doing this...,but I'm not running anything taxing on the processor or the RAM ...

From sitting one room away from router I got these results:
Test 1 :down = 1.99mbs up = 1.37mbs Ping = 57ms
Test 2 : down = 7.45mbs up = 1.29mbs Ping = 44ms
Test 3 : down = 7.46mbs up = 3.39mbs Ping = 78ms

From the app "speedtest.net".....
So, you can see the variation between the first test, and the rest.......
