Help EQ Not Working

Hello guys I may sound like a noob but I just want to be informed. Is there a reason why the equalizer only works for the stock android player and not for third party music players? I've tried several at different times and uninstalled them if they didn't work. They include cloudskipper,n7player, fusion player, mort player, and several others but I still get the "eq not available or in use by another app" issue or the eq will just never load.

PS Using Stock LG MOTION 4G with :
Android 4.0.4
Kernel 3.0.8
Software Version M577010d

The equalizer is built Into the default music player. You'd need a third party eq when using third party apps.
(Edit) go into settings/apps then go into the default music player and just disable it. Should allow third party access of eq settings

It worked thanks for your assistance. I wasn't aware though that for the edit to take effect the phone had to be rebooted. I was puzzling over why it didn't work right after I disabled the default player. I figured it out though thanks a lot.
