Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

Just upgraded this morning and my experience is exactly like Caddy's so far. Before upgrading I doubled checked that all contacts were backed up in Google and, after the upgrade, all contacts showed up including the FB links in under a few minutes!!

The only thing I find odd is the number of services running in the background. I'm anal about killing programs and it now kills 4-6 at a clip instead of the 1 or 2 pre-upgrade. It's been on the charger all morning so I'll report back later on battery life/usage.

Thanks to all those who helped getting the 2.1 leak out and all the "support" threads to go with it! *Cheers*

BUG: In 1.5, it smartly gave options to only send text messages to mobile numbers in the contact card, but in 2.1, even Home numbers have the option to send messages now too.

Example

(1.5)
Call mobile 111-xxx-xxxx
Call home 113-xxx-xxxx
Send message 111-xxx-xxxx

(2.1)
Call mobile 111-xxx-xxxx
Call home 113-xxx-xxxx
Send message 111-xxx-xxxx
Send message 113-xxx-xxxx

just an update, my phone and my coworkers phone works flawlessly :)
i`ve been reading all the threads and catching up so...i say that loosely but, all seems well so far. now that i`ve completed this thread i`ll catch up on the news then play with the phone some more.
...then i`ll do some work at the gig lmao!! :)

The HTC battery widget installed on my Eris but was not available. I had to uninstall and re-isntall to use it. Has anybody had this issue?

I had the exact same problem. I installed HTC's Tip Calculator and Dice at the same time, and they showed up just fine in the HTC Widgets list... only Battery was missing. Uninstalled and reinstalled, and then it worked. I'm glad, because I really preferred it over the others available in the market.

And work numbers. I don't like that bug very much, but the 4 people I text the most, I put shortcuts to texting their cell phone on one of my home screens and do it that way instead. :)

Using the Quick Settings App, I found this; "No APN configured - mobile data"!
Anyone have any idea how to get that working?
Is this the key to getting the google sign in to not be needed after startup?

I also get this with the QUICK SETTINGS app. The good thing is my network seems to be working fine. Selecting the setting also takes me to the correct system settings for the phone where I can make any adjustments I need to make. The message might just be an app issue.
FWIW, I have not experienced the Google sign in bug so they are probably not related.

lol i just tryed to sync my contacts threw google and well, luckily i have a backup, it deleted all me google cantcts from google. :/

now restoreing contacts with mybackup

Dude, you work in a cubicle?

What nkt said though, everyone is on the exact same build, and some have issues, some dont, i have 0 issues other then the login issue on reboot, but i never reboot, so it's a non issue.

Watch for it -- I had the login issue without the reboot.

Did they fix the Bluetooth command/dialing issue that was in 1.5? I would really like to be able to use voice commands through a Bluetooth device

Unless that major update to 2.1 will only allow itself run from a 1.5 phone. Possible.

Going off the assumption that the leaked update is actually the one the testers are using, it shouldn't be an issue. 2.1 apparently comes with it's own bootloader (the reason we can't go back to 1.5). We're able to reflash the 2.1 rom without problems because it's 2.1, so it stands to reason that it should work that way with whatever VZW decides to push out.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be all that surprised to see VZW to push a version that checks for the 1.5 bootloader just so they can get people to replace phones that can't get updates. Even in that case, I'm not sure they'd do it, just because of the massive amount of insurance claims that would be turned in.

"Huh, can't update my phone because it's already on 2.1.........well Mr. VZW rep, my phone fell out of my pocket when I ran back into the house to grab my keys and got ran over. New phone please?"

Does this mean you got the sound resolved ?

So, in the Battery Use part of settings (very nice feature) it shows "Cell Standby"
Not sure exactly what that is measuring ,but if you click on it for details, it tells me time without signal = 50%.

Someone else posted the same finding above.

I don't think I am without signal 50% off the time. In fact, I know I am not.
Is this showing up on everyone's phone?
Bug?

My Eris has been absolutely amazing since going to 2.1

One item I have not yet tested (and lacked in 1.5) was bluetooth file transfer. I re-downloaded that app from the market but I haven't had the opportunity to actually pair it with my laptop and xfer files.

Also, I didn't get the HTC Battery Widget. :(

No complaints or issues otherwise (yet)
