Eris 2.1 leak Bug's and Fixes

I've noticed that after using the airplane method I start losing gmail push updates. I watch my email on my computer get new mails, but have to hit the sync now button to get the eris to pick that up. This is after 5-10 minutes or more at times. I don't know if they are actually related to this behavior. It just seems like this is when I start getting that problem.

I had this same problem in 1.5

I have found this too, but I have figured out how to eliminate the error.

You are correct in deleting the widget and putting up a new one off the get go when the 2.1 is installed, but the error will sometimes come back if you restart the phone and then try to make a call right away when the phone is loading up. Let the phone boot all the way up (loading in the weather, the apps, the time, and anything else that loads in before making calls or doing other things.) I have noticed that its like a computer in that sence too, that although you can see the start button, you should not hit it until its done loading all of its stuff in.

And if you ever see the widget not showing the speed dials I have noticed doing a manual sync will bring the people back, but its faster to just delete the widget and bring it back. I have a feeling that the next time it auto sync's all would probably be good.
 
minor one... if in manage applications and the phone goes to sleep briefly upon wake the applications may appear duplicated and if you click on them they may possibly both be the same application or something a couple items down.
quickly scrolling up and down removes this glitch temporarily until it tries to sleep again.

Can anyone else confirm this? I rebooted my phone to test this and when I don't do the airplane trick, I get full email sync. Perhaps the Time without signal is more like a windows task manager item that says CPU Idle Time is always 98-99%. On the surface, that could look bad, but if you really understand what it's telling you, you see that the CPU isn't doing anything for 99% of that time-period. Just a thought...

GPS will be working fine in Maps but if I enter an address and go to Navigate, the app will show the route but will show "Searching for GPS..." at the bottom of the screen. Doesn't matter if I'm outside or in the car I get that message.
 
Ok so wtf. I wish there was away to disable the stupid htc lock screen. Every now and then it pops back up I unlock it and then unlock lock bot pro... Annoying!

Have you tried restarting the phone? Are you using the latest Google Maps version? I had the same problem after an update a few weeks ago, restarting it took care of the problem.

Buy "Keyguard Disabler" from the Market. It's like $1.49 I think and works great.
 
I now have the silent phone issue, I'll call and hear nothing, get calls hear nothing, can't fix it...has anyone got a fix on this..my phone is currently unusable on 2.1

Only fix is a reboot. If that didn't work, I think you'll have to try resetting.
 
I apologize if this has been mentioned...but a few times a week, all of my sounds and microphone are essentially muted. I have to reboot the phone to get the to work. Sometimes it is mid call, sometimes not. Either way, its disabling the key part of this device...the phone.

Same here. It also seems to randomly disconnect from my wifi network. Wifi remains enabled, but I have to go into Wi-Fi Settings again to reconnect.



Also, for those with sound issues, try installing Sound Manager. With 1.5 my alarms were always silent even though the setting was up. I opened up Sound Manager and that showed the sound as muted. I changed it in Sound Manager and that fixed it.

My third Eris is on its way because of this very issue. I know alot of people didn't have this problem untill the leaked versions of 2.1, but I've had this problem since december when I got the phone.
 
Hmm. Well, I'm hoping that the official 2.1 will fix this. If not, i'm going to have a hard time getting a replacement probably. Every VZW store i've gone to in the past has always given me such a hard time when I need a replacement. It's not like I go in there with something silly. One was one of the Samsung flip phones where the screen rotates...well, the screw kept coming out and falling off. I can't imagine them keeping the phone to "replicate" the error. I may have to say I lost it and pay the fifty...

I don't have issues with it disconnecting, but if you are, make sure that Wifi is not going to sleep by going into:
Settings>Wireless & networks>Wifi settings>

Press menu > Advanced>Wifi Sleep Policy>

and set it to Never
 
more Bugs in v2*


  • random crash of the browser especially when trying to log into sites like my bank. maybe this part is not new....
  • cannot format SD card within 2.1. I had to reboot into Amons recovery and partition the sd card. any attempt to format while in 2.1 I get a notice saying card is empty or card is defective. after partitioning in amons recovery the card was accepted no problems.

can we get the first page of this sticky updated on these bugs please?

Yeah, I've restarted and am using the current version. It happens whenever I enable Navigation. If I start Navigation it will use GPS and show my location UNTIL I enter an address and select 'Navigate'. Then I just get the generic tower triangulation estimate and "Searching for GPS..."

I actually don't think I had this issue until the last Google Maps update.
 
No one has replied to my issue, can someone please help?

I installed 2.1 v2 and whenever I receive a text message I get 2 notifications: one for handcent and one from stock app. I already unchecked the notification on the stock app, so I shouldn't be receiving a notification at all. I uninstalled handcent and installed chomp and the same issue occurred. I uninstalled all and just kept the stock app, and for some reason I get 2 ringtones- the one I assigned and the default text ringtone. I still have the notification box unchecked yet I STILL receive the notification from the stock app without any market apps.
Anyone have this problem or can suggest a solution? Please??
 
did you check off the auto retrieve? as well? and before you check off the received notification.. make sure you check off the play sound and then you check off the received notification. that what i do and i use chomp. hope that helps you out
