Help Eris & ICS

I bought a used ERIS on eBay and my daughter - who generally knows what she is doing - installed ICS (it came with cupcake). It works great except as a phone. Have been unable to activate on Verizon. They say that she should not have touched the cupcake - is this true? Is there a later upgrade that she can install? I know nothing about any of this - my first smartphone.

Just to clarify, she rooted the phone and installed an ICS rom?

If so, I think the easiest thing to do is for your daughter to backup what is installed now, install the stock android 2.1 (eclair - the Eric's received an upgrade from cupcake in May 2010), activate the phone using that ROM, and then restore the ICS ROM - the phone will remain activated.

If she needs any help through this, just reply...

Wow, thank you. I will pass this on to her. I love the phone and would like to keep it the way it is (spent hours playing through wifi) so your solution sounds great.
