Eris problem when charging?

So here's the problem..
When, and only when my phone is charging,
it's extremely laggy.
When trying to reply to a message, after hitting the key it takes around 5 seconds to respond.
Also, it acts as if my trackball is always held to the left, but only occasionally.
If I hit the home screen, it always goes to the far left home screen.

Any suggestions of what I could do?

Try a different charger or cable. This is a somewhat common problem for Eris users. If the cable or charger starts to go bad, then it messes with the phone. Using a different cable or charger should solv eit.
