Eris Tips and Tricks

has anyone found that if you want to move an icon around from another screen that you can move it to the top and let go where it says drag items to arrange then just swipe screens instead of moving it close to the edge or moving the track ball?

That is so much easier!!! I was so annoyed having to do the close-to-the-edge method. Thank you!

If you have 2.1 (V2) you can quickly access Google navigation by long pressing the Google search "button" to bring up voice search and say "navigate to (your destination)".
It works very well!

I was running with my Eris as my MP3 player and an inbound call came in. I quickly discovered that I could take the call with the headphones still plugged in. My next test is to see if it will work effectively with speaker phone activated. This will enable me to listen to my music in the car and still take calls without unplugging the phone.
It works great, I do it all the time. (You do mean with the speakers plugged in and not "speaker phone activated" right?)

Question about contacts syncing....all of a sudden every email contact that I've replied to is now listed on my phone under people. (Including carpool moms and such that I don't really need listed in my phone but were in emails on my gmail) How do I get them out of my phone contact list? On gmail they're not under my contacts. I saw a post that gave directions for fixing this but under groups (three little heads) and it doesn't have that option-"sync groups"...any ideas?

In people, press menu, then view. There is an option to choose automatic contacts (or something like that - I am not now running stock Eris.) It should be pretty obvious. Anyway, uncheck that and those contacts will no longer be on the phone.

I haven't seen this mentioned, but a quick way to uninstall apps instead of having to go thru the market or having to go to "manage applications" in your settings, is while in the app drawer, long press the app you want to uninstall and drag it like you are putting a shortcut on your desktop but drag it to the trash....then instead of dropping it as soon as it turns red, keep long pressing it until it says "drop to uninstall". You can also do this with just the shortcut that is on your desktop.
