Eris

I have one other gripe. It's with the Albums no matter how I have it set up it loads very slow, worse then my droid .. Once it's loaded it will scroll perfectly (this could also be because I have almost 500 pictures on my SDCard , I'm guessing a better card would speed this up)

You have to use the trackball to take pictures, which isn't a big deal but think they could have doen something slightly more convient

you can press and hold any part of the screen to take pictures, i like the trackball though

1. Overall sluggishness - especially when flick-scrolling through long lists or launching applications

i would think root, 2.0, and faster (class 4 or 6) SD Card would work wonder for yous'

Yes, a class 6 card would help with loading the album! You can find a Ridata 16gb class 6 card for about $48. It is somewhat costly, but something that you would be able to transfer to future phones, making it worth while.

Thanks , I'll look into that.. I'm not sure what I ahve now, it's just whatever came with the phone.

Im looking into buying the HTC Droid Eris and i wondering if there was any major flaws or problems with it.

Thanks ahead of time

I might as well put my first post here. I have been reading these forums for months. I can tell you all sorts of stuff about these phones that I learned here. As of last week, I have some first hand knowledge.

My 2 daughters phones came up for an upgrade. They wanted iphones. Our family has a mixed variety of contract dates with Verizon, so going to ATT is not practical. Plus, I pretty much dont care for anything apple. Computers are over priced, hate itunes, dont care for ipods, etc. I dont like apple telling me I have to do things their way. I have had that opinion since 1984 when the mac first came out. Nothing they have done since has changed my mind. I showed my girls Droid and Eris. Eris was the choice. $79.00, buy one get one. I showed them a few basics and off they went. They are now showing me stuff you dont learn by reading. They are in hog heaven with their first smarty phones.

The phone is great. Particularly for those that dont know there is something even "better". Theoretically. It's kinda like having a fantastic TV at 720P. There is 1080P, but 720P looks so good! If it gets even better with an OS upgrade, great!

The main things I showed them were the widgets for turning off wifi and mobile network. It wont work for everyone, but if you arent using the network, turn it off to save battery for when you need it and turn it back on. They get it.

Anyway, I currently use a BB Storm, souped up with a hybrid os, and it is working great! I would much rather have the Eris. I am waiting for the verizon version of N1 to see if that is what I want. Or, I might get a droid, or even an Eris. But, I will be out of my pretty good storm soon. If my upgrade was available, I wouldnt hesitate to get the Eris. It is a fantastic phone, warts and all. Everything has it's warts.

I would suggest you go ahead and get the phone.

Love it 90% of the time. Got the 3600 mAh battery on order so that takes care of one of my major gripes. My other major gripes are: I wish MSN (or any email) was push (even Gmail isn't...) and that the SMS could be set up to only have X number of days worth of messages in que (like my BB Storm did) then delete anything older on it's own. Once you get too many you can not purge the thread no matter how much you try. It just locks up the messenger program.

Personally, I would get the Motorola Droid. However, if the cost is an issue for you, the HTC Droid Eris is the next best thing.

Or, if a person doesn't like the look and feel of the droid, will never use the worthless keyboard, prefers a more pocketable size and loves Sense UI then the Eris is the obvious choice.

The Droid would be perfect if you could get it without the keyboard. It would slim it down and reduce the weight. It is just a nuisance to what is otherwise a very good phone. Although, to wake the phone up is a pain.

Don't you start talking about my touche! That is totally inappropriate! I am going to send a pm to the mods and..........what?...........It means what?.............OOOOhhhhh ok. Never mind.;)
Wait? What?
For the record touche means:
appropriateness of an argument, an accusation, or a witty point

This is exactly why I only kept the Droid for a week.. I do however miss the power of the droid , and the gorgeous screen... But I couldn't live with an ackward phone
