Help Error Message When Transferring Contacts

I am trying to transfer my phone book from my BB 8830 to my Evo. I have read all the posts, but none really address the problem that I am having. I have paired the phones, and am able to transfer the file to my Evo. The Evo receives the file successfully, so it says; however when I click on it to open it I get a message asking me to complete the action by one of two things (people or file editor). When I click people, It says it's reading the VCard but then the application stops unexpectedly...If I choose file editor it gives me a jumbled mess...Any suggestions? I have tried the Sprint store but they were not able to do the transfer as something was wrong with the BB port. Also, the BB no longer has service on it so I am not able to import them to a google acct. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Please and thank you!!
