Help Error Recording Video

stubert

Lurker
Hey guys,

Everytime I try to record a video I get this error message saying:

Warning: Recording Failed (in a pop up box)

The video saves after I record it in my camera folder, however if I try to use my camera again to take pictures or record a video I will get the same error message as above. The only way I can get the error to go away is to delete the video I had recorded earlier.

Can someone please help me with this problem. Thanks.

Two quick questions ... ho much free space have you got for internal storage? And, are you still running Gingerbread (2.3.x) or have you updated to 4.0.x? (Ice Cream sandwich)

I only have 1.26 GB avaialble on my SD now and 11.30 GB on my phone. I switched the default storage from the phone to my memory card for the camera/video.
I'm still running Gingerbread but I was just thinking today that if I update then maybe the problem will go away.

My first thought was that you didn't have enough space to record the temp file and then save it.

That's what I thought too but then I realised I had loads of space. If I attempt to record a video though it does record, but the next time I try to use the camera (to take pictures or record) then I get the error.

It sounds like the recording app isn't releasing the camera. I'd first try a different camera app. Try Vignette and see if you get the same behavior. If not, then the stock camera app is corrupt. You could at that point try a Factory reset or update to ICS (at which time I'd highly recommend a factory reset.)

Thanks alot for the help! I will try all this when I get home later. Will let you know the results.

I did both. The factory reset didn't fix the problem but the update to ICS finally cleared up the camera issue. Thanks again.
