Error when backup ROM.

I am on 2.3.5 rooted. In ROM Manager, select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery", then I backup my ROM I get error..

--Install from package--
Finding update package..
Opening update package..
Verifying update package..
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: Signature verification failed
Installation aborted

Am I missing something?

why are u using rom manager? dont u have CWM? u can boot into CWM and try backing up, or (if u used CF root to root ur phone) u should have the CWM app installed, u can use that..

The ROM Manager-installed Clockworkmod Recovery will only work reliably with CM7-based kernels.

i used CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KI3-v4.1-CWM4 to root. i cant get to CWM.
i want to backup my ROM. With phone off press vol down + middle key + power I dont get a menu to backup. I use ROM manager to reboot into recovery i get error.

assuming ur running stock firmware rooted with CF root, u should see a CWM app in ur app drawer. u just need to open it, and select backup

btw, if u want to boot into CWM recovery, u press vol UP+home+power keys

yes i am on stock firmware rooted with CF root.
i selected backup in CWM app in app drawer i get this..

reboot system now
apply update fron sdcard
wipedata/factroy reset
wipe cache partition

there is no backup option.

hmm.. thats odd.there should be a backup/restore option there too. when u boot to recovery mode, do u boot to CWM? thats vol UP+home+power

i get download mode with an andriod standing when phone off and press vol UP+home+power.

u sure? vol UP should get u to recovery mode, vol DOWN should get u to download mode

vol UP+home+power i get an andriod picture in the screen no menu (downloading mode).
from app menu>CWM>i can reboot to CWM recovery. I can see all options in the menu.

well if u can book int CWM and u see the backup option there, u can try that out, it should work. still odd that u dont see backup option on the CWM manager app though

sorry, im starting to lose the thread here just to get it straight:
u have stock firmware, u rooted with CF root
u have CWM in ur app drawer, but this app does not have a backup/restore option
when u press and hold vol UP+home+power, u get into download mode
when u press and hold vol DOWN+home+power, u get into recovery mode
when u get into recovery mode, is it CWM? and do u see the backup option?

That's the root (no pun intended) of the problem. You've overwritten the CF modified recovery with Clockworkmod Recovery. Reflash the CF-Root package.... that will restore the correct recovery.
