Root Error When Flashing Any ROM

JSpink

Lurker
Hello everyone,

I recently rooted my phone and I am interested in flashing a new ROM. I downloaded three or four ROMs to test out and placed them on my sdcard. I am using Clockword Mod Recovery and when I attempt to flash any of the ROMs (install zip from sdcard), I get the following report:

-- Installing: SDCARD:sdcard/sg102-update.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "sholes" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "sholes" || getprop("ro.product.board") == "sholes"
E:Error in /sdcard/sdcard/sg102-update.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

I have tried a factory reset as well as rerooting. It is quite frustrating.
Any advice? Thanks in advance.

I have tried VaelPak-v2.3a, SS GB 5.00, Charity SG10, and MIUI 1.2.25.1.
I am choosing install zip from sdcard.

I am not familiar with a couple of those. Have you tried flashing one of the stable sense roms to see how that goes? Fresh, Mikfroyo, Kings, Myns.......

Also, are you using the stock card or a different one?

Where are you looking for ROMs? That is an old version of vaelpack, and I'm fairly certain the rest (not sure about the specific miui version) are not even Evo ROMs. You can't just flash any old ROM out there. It has to be designed for the Evo :). Flash ROMs from this list, only unless you know for a fact it is designed for your phone:

HTC Supersonic/ROMs - XDA-Developers

Not that it would prevent you from flashing it, but you also need to make sure a ROM is based on the sw version that matches your radio versions.
