Help error with phone. anyone know why

I have a transform ultra that my son uses. Lately the phone screen blinks and the battery indicator says it is being charging when phone isnot plugged into the usb port. If the phone is plugged in all the errors in the screen stop. Does anyone have a clue what is going on. i looked at the usb port on the phone and do not see any problem atleast to the naked eye.

strange....have you tried resetting?
its a pain but it helps most of the times.....if does not then send it back to samsung...i am sure it is still under warranty
