I've been having problems with getting adb working. Will these help?

Depends on what issue you are having you do need the drivers installed. Whats exactly the issue?

When I go to cmd and do adb devices, it shows an empty list. When I go to the devices manager it doesn't list the phone as an adb device too.

Yeah try uninstalling all the lg drivers off your computer then re-install them. And see if it shows. If youre on Windows XP, XP has issues when it comes to drivers sometimes, I dont know why but I know it does.
