Help esteem factory date reseted itself???

my buddy's esteem somehow performed a factory data reset on its own. the phone was still on and he had it on the charger. when he unplugged the charger from the phone and when the screen came on, the lg setup wizard had launched. so he pressed exit, and noticed his phone had been reset back to factory. he has the newer esteems which came with zvd out the box and his phone has never been rooted b4 either. anyone know what coulda caused this?

Kind of hard to believe it just did a factory reset by itself.

As to why? No clue. Is the phone working/acting right now? No test mode (# sign to hidden menu) or anything like that?

everything seems normal, see the 4G icon ontop, see the signal bars, but its just grey and not changing the green. had him try to make a call and some reason it wont call out, data isnt working either. when trying to sign into google, it says

"Cant establish a reliable date connection to the server"

"this could be a temporary problem or your phone may not be provisioned for data services. if it continues, call customer care."

Go to settings/about phone/status

What does it say for your PRL?

Is the phone number there? MIN there?

Yes everything still there. but the phone was running soooo slow n laggy for some reason. so i turned it off and back on n it ran smooth again n some reason data is now working again. i dont know what happend, I'm jus hella puzzled rite now lol

Hahaha.

They can do strange things. Pulling the battery and SD card will fix things when all else fails. Makes no sense. haha

Yeah that might be something to think about. You can always undo the root.
And you don't even have to mod the phone. You can just root it so you can make and have backups in case anything happens. If for not anything else it's worth doing just for that.
