Esteem vs Connect - a comparison

. I totally agree with you, what they needed to do is upgrade the esteem's specs added the new Processor, ram, 34gb of Internal storage and adroid OS 4.0

yep now that's a phone I'd pay 400 bucks for, it would be worth upgrading to the new $70 plan for also.:thrasher:

I was at big lots the other day, the guy at the cash register had a galaxy note laying on the counter, I put my esteem down next to his and i said wow not much of a difference in size, and he said wow that's really nice who is it by? i told him it was an LG from Metropcs and he replayed WoW Metropcs has a phone like that now? I thought they only sold cheap phones.

I should have said: they still do its called the connect. It looks like a little toy you'd buy a 5yr old for their bday. lol

Lmao hahaha to funny like I've said only way i will updated my phone if they come out with some thing in the lines of the esteem on steroids the esteem xtreme xt for short but I'm sure they will bring something out around xmas cause that's when they usually bring out the expensive phones in they're new line

The build quality on the esteem isn't "magnificent" either, its a nice solid phone but it doesn't make other phones (other than the ascend) look like toys

Just don't expect an s2 I've seen too many people on here expecting that this.year, I hate to say it, but keep dreaming

Didn't you know life is a dream or there wouldn't be any phones of any kind or anything else around us :D lol

im going to say this and i know i can speak for everyone if everyone tries both. the connect is worth the upgrade from processor to ram to screen color and contrast to video fps to size. and screen size difference is absolutely unnoticable while using. performance of a stock connect clearly puts an overclocked esteem in the dust the only thing that has bothered me so far is no hdmi. overheating was becoming an issue but switching battery and lg connect optimizer fixed that. otherwise thats it.

so is switching to the connect worth it? YES if you have the money. in fact their prices are only at most $50 apart used on craigslist so switching shouldnt cost that much. i swear the nova display finally feels like a galaxy s2 with my esteem i really felt a difference in screen color and contrast.

sounds like you are trying to convince your self more than others....:listen:

most phones with smaller screens look like toys compared to the esteem that's what i was referring to.. Size is everything.. only people with little ones think Size doesn't matter.:proud: Have you even used an esteem and put it next to other phones?

Yeah I used to have an esteem since like a month after it came out. I sold it last week, and I know what you mean, if I hold my optimus m it feels like I need a magnifying glass (i have to use it for another two weeks before I can completely switch over to T Mobile) my sensation is a 4.3 but .3 does not mean the world

tell the woman/guy your dating/married to that and see what she/he says...haha :dancing2:

have u looked at the galaxy s2? ya looks like a crappy phone from china worth $50 the esteem has a much nicer look and feel i totally agree but are u looking to impress people around u or functionality?

what kind of a smartphone cant stay properly connected to a bluetooth headset let alone the jawbone era or the icon hd.nor can it connect to an HID device absolutely impossible. and cant even get gps directions if youre on the phone because internet doesnt work while in a call. if you have tethering open and play with the phone or make a call it restarts overheats and decides to restart every bit when tethering. not to mention overall performance and speed and battery life.

the lg connect may not be an upgrade from the esteem overall but it is better in many ways that matter to me more than others.

i still look at my esteem and want to use it but then i remember all these little things that add up

come on lets be serious here. the esteem to galaxy note is not a difference but all of a sudden 0.3 in between the connect and esteem is a deal breaker?

besides looks idk how the esteem is better than the connect

I've never had any of those issues with tethering, my bluetooth stereo headset always stays connected and I've never been talking to someone and want to do something else at the same time, you are just trying to argue with little things to make your self feel good about a little toy you bought. My esteem performance is pretty good, its smooth and runs just fine with no lag. maybe the problem with your esteem wasn't the phone but the person using it. My battery life is just fine, Only time I've had a battery issue was when I tried a custom ROM. Again I think that is more of how you use the phone then of how the phone its self performs. and by the way if you hate it so much why are you on the esteem forum?

i dont hate the esteem im just saying that everyone's blind hate for the lg connect is unreasonable.i felt the same way when it came out. but in reality the esteem is only better than the connect with looks and development which shouldnt take long on the connect. and it really matters if youre a heavy user or not. for some people a huawei m835 is more than enough but the multitasking and usage i put on my phone the esteem couldnt handle fully and the connect did.

and you arent making any valid points here. it depends in how the user uses it? really? wat does that even mean? ive owned the first smartphone ever to hit the market from the nokia 3650 to the nokia n900 to the cingular 8125 thw first day it came out to every htc phone after that and every android superphone. and ive used the **it out of each one. just because u cant afford to pay 300 for a small upgrade dont hate on the device. its technically more than twice as good as the esteem and i was able to keep both and try both so until you go buy a lg connect and try it please dont speculate out of your @** and make assumptions. the lg connect may be a sad excuse for competition with todays superphones but hey it does what my skyrocket does and my esteem doesnt and thats good enough.

You're the only one making assumptions. I never said I couldn't afford to get the connect. You proved my point. People who bitch about the phone so much just like to have the next new thing, look at all the phones you say you've had. I don't want a tiny little toy.:hello:

The connect is a piece of shizz and trust me us esteem users can afford it if we wanted it look at me bought a $300 esteem and then bought a transformer prime $700 with dock so trust me price aint nothing to us esteem users shit i could of bought a couple iphones if i wanted to lol were just waiting for a real upgrade.

Well it's a big difference once you put these two together. The esteem definitely feels like it's worth the money compared to the small plastic feeling when you hold the connect. It feels like a dummy phone. HDMI on the esteem is the beezneez. I'd rather enjoy ANY kind of visual entertainment on the esteem's large screen. As a dealer, I've played the most I can with the connect and my Esteem looks, feels, and maybe performs better so I've had my fair share with the connect.

How's that Transformer Prime, Do you really use the keyboard a lot, or is it just a cool thing to show people?

Exactly. Well said.

the prime is impressive and all but you want to use it like a laptop when its on the dock and it just cant do that. battery life is fantastic. its so powerful that there arent any applications that can even use half its computing abilities. but i honestly find myself using my phone more often and the prime is alot of the time just lying around. wifi signal is also not as good as the first transformer due to the full metallic body i think but its good enough. alot of small bugs that u find on almost all android devices related to media have been completely eliminated in the prime. but i do find some minor bugs when using the keyboard especially with youtube. i also hate how some apps still have laggy scrolling even with the prime like netflix. at first i had a problem with the screen flickering at times but then it stopped. and another annoyance is the fact that the prime is heavier than the dock so if u put it in ur lap it always wants to tip over. but otherwise it puts the galaxy tab 10 un the dust anyday.

i know what you mean. the esteem feels like quality all around but seriously go use all the newer phones that carriers have they feel like plastic toys. thats where its headed with these smartphones they want them as light as possible. its disappointing but if you need the performance like i do then you must live with it. the last phone i remember with a build that felt like the esteem was the htc hd2 and thats where it stops there isnt a single phone out there -in the u.s. that is- that feels like quality please correct me if im wrong

I wasn't asking for your opinion... lol I'm just joking with you. :p

What you said about the keybaord is what I thought when I first seen it. I had a Toshiba Thrive before I got the Esteem. I loved it, but once I got the Esteem I realized I wasn't using the Thrive anymore, Everything i did on the Thrive, I was now doing on the Esteem, so I sold the Thrive.
