Eugene DOES IT AGAIN...How-TO Root the Slide

Hopefully when this has been done successfully a few times, some clearer directions will be available, or maybe a video :-D

Just out of curiosity, is rooting the android phone akin to jailbreaking the iphone?
 
Yes and No, Mainly just give you Admin Rights to system files....For me, the main reason is to remove BoatWare and will let me install Apps the require Root access.
 
Thats what I'm talking bout 2.2!!! Question, now that the slide is rooted any1 have any recommendations on some "bloatware" worth removing.
 
Anyone got some free games? At the Behold forum there was a lot of free game hacks.

Also,
how much better is 2.2? Can someone explain the key upgrades?
 
We don't post paid apps for free here!! So don't ask. They are called warez and are against fourm rules. PAY FOR THE SOFTWARE YOU USE! Don't steal from the pockets of android developers.
 
The actual root process is not difficult to do at all. The hardest part is catching the phone in the loop so adb recognizes it in recovery. Once it is the process takes less than a minute.

There is a video posted on the root thread on xda. But its not needed. Follow the written directions to a T and it will work.
