Root Everyone using DL09 Super Clean 0.4, Please help me out!

I'm running completely stock except rooted Samsung Fascinate. I'm using Launcher pro and some other mods that change the appearance of my phone, but thats about it. I don't like how my phone is filled with crapware or bloatware, I don't like how the apps i run to change the phones appearance to what i like (i.e., getting rid of that crap touchwiz) sucking up the majority of my ram, and I don't like the crappy basic apps that verizon includes and I don't like the lag i see.

My question is this: Will I see a big difference in performance if I flash SUPER CLEAN 0.4? Have you run into bugs or things that don't work as well as stock?

Is it worth switching to this? Please weigh in and give me your opinion. Pro's and con's that you see.

Thank you so much in advance. I'm sitting here ready to pull the trigger on the flash of superclean, but I want to hear opinions, because all that I can find is people with their unique problems talking about super clean, and not their opinions.

I just reflashed my phone to stock using the DI01 image from Adrenylyn. I then let my phone get the DL09 OTA from Verizon and my phone is now locking up like crazy. I get some new icon at the top center of my screen, not sure what that is. Looks like a square on its point with wireless signal heading out of it.

Repeating the process over, not going to root this time and see if I can get all my apps to install.

Where did you find SUPER CLEAN? I might be willing to try it right now since I have now wiped my phone 3 times in the past hour.

I'm running the Adrynalyns Dl09 SuperClean 0.4 and absolutely love it. Performance is amazing. It's snappier now than it has ever been. I lost haptic feedback but got it back after pushing the "fix" through Odin. (Modem file). Also just flashed Sonofskywalkers Dl09 Blackhole theme. Now my fascinate is exactly where I want it. Quick, sexy, and gets the jobs done. GPS takes like 2 secs to lock in now too btw. Go for it. You won't regret it and its super easy to do. Good luck

My setup now is:

Rooted
- Superclean 0.4 DL09 Rom by Adrynalyn(sp?)
- Haptic feedback Modem/radio file fix
- 1230_Non_voodoo kernel
- Sonofskywalkers DL09 Blackhole 3 series theme

Loving it. :D

Credit to all you great developers for providing these great roms, kernels, and themes for us Android Addicts.

To give you an idea of what it looks like with this setup :D

I love these forums! Only place you can go and everyone tries to actually be helpful. Thank you all for sharing.

That is some gadget porn right there...sssssssssseeeeexxxxxxxxxxxxxxyyyyyyyyy!

Please post the files and a super simple step by step guide, if you would be so kind, so other people who don't know much about this at all can have a super sexy looking phone like you!

neotrixy, I am in the process now of flashing my phone back to stock because I couldn't get root back. I'll take notes for you once I get back to loading up this new stuff.

lol. Thank you. It's addicting and quite fun once you understand and get the hang of things. I would suggest doing a lot of researching here. I uploaded a few quick downloads that you will need/want to get you on your way. I'll post a little step by step if you would like. I surely don't mind helping. As much as i've learned from this forum it's only fair to pay it forward.

Wallpaper from Zedge app
Using LauncherPro Plus
Dock downloaded from xda forum LPP docks thread
Black status bar is from Sonofskywalker Blackhole Theme
Text Icons also from XDA Forums

Just get creative and you can do anything! :D Let me know if you need help.

Ouch I am screwed now. Got to the point of installing the Kernal and now my phone won't mount the USB so I can copy that over. I am rooted, have USB Debugging turned on and when I select to mount the USB nothing happens. When I first plug int he phone I am prompted to launch TOOLLAUNCHER.BOOTSTRAP.EXE or to browse files but it is a virtual CD that it browses to. Any suggestions?

That is ****ing nuts. Out of ****ing no where, all of a sudden I have that same issue. It literally started about 20 mins ago. My SD card was mounting fine just a little bit ago; I would say about 2 hours ago I was using it fine. And then pow, same exact problem.

I've found a temporary fix: Connect your phone to your pc via USB. Set your phone to USB Debug mode. Restart your phone. Once its reloaded, go to your drop down menu and click on USB and select mount of mass storage or whatever it says. It should work fine then. At least for me and others.

If I help you, please consider clicking a thanks on my name!

That's exactly what I had to do as well when I ran into the same issue. It's fixable so don't panic.

This is what my phone's home screen looks like right now. I have stock everything, except I rooted. I'm running just basic programs, like LauncherPro, Beautiful Widgets, etc.

I am flashing again back to stock. Could not get it to mount no matter what I tried.

What order did you install things in? SHould I do the modem update before the Supah Clean Install?

I haven't done the Super Clean install yet. I'm about to, but haven't at this point.

From what I've been told by others, yes you should flash the modem first.

I did it in this order:

1) pushed modem file through Odin
2) flashed rom
3) flashed 1230_non_voodoo kernel

Do you have titanium backup installed? You can freeze apps/bloatware so they can't run anymore. You don't need a new rom to get rid of that stuff, I'm running dj05 kernal and stock rom.

Can someone tell me what this person meant by this:

"6. Once it flashes...navigate to wipe cache partition....and click yes"

I'm using ROM Manager to install super clean 0.4, but I can't find this option anywhere to wipe cache partition. I can't figure out what he mean by this.

Anyone else know what he meant and/or how to do it?

When you select a ROM in ROM Manager, there are two boxes to check. One to do a backup first and the other to clear the cache.

I don't think freezing bloatware works any more. I'm pretty sure Titanium "freezes" apps by renaming the file extension. Which I've already tried manually, which didn't work. And I just tried Titanium Pro, and it didn't work either. But thanks for the idea.

I'm trying to install SuperClean 0.4 through ROM Manager, but it keeps telling me error, "ROM Manager was unable to open this file. Please remove any spaces from your file and folder path. Or run it manually via CWM rec" or something along those lines. Obviously there is no spaces in the name, which is why I have the problem here.

I've tried downloading the .zip file of the rom from other sources, but same thing. I've checked the MD5 checksum and it checks out correct. Anyone have any idea what the problem could be? This is my first rom I'm trying to flash. So this is all new to me.

Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks.

Most of us after awhile come to rely on rom manager less and less (i don't even have it on my phone atm)

To install roms or kernels.booting manually into cwr is a far better alternative....this can be done through rom manager of course by.selecting.reboot into.recovery and it will take you right into green clockwork recovery

Or you can power down, three button recovery (hold down both volume keys and power), and then navigate down to apply update.zip in blue recovery and hit the home key

You.are now in green recovery (use the volume rocker to.navigate and the power key for enter

Files need to be on your sdcard to flash in clockwork....most of us make rom, kernel, theme folders and drop the files in there

Whereas rom manager has only the dual wipe data/cache option clockwork allows you to do them separately...,always a best bet to navigate to wipe cache partion before flashing roms and kernels

To. "Flash" something you go to install from sdcard and navigate to your folder the file is in and select it

When all is done...,reboot and let it go...,some first boots after flashing stuff take up to 5 minutes...this is normal so don't freak out. :)

Also i maintain a list of all roms/themes http://androidforums.com/fascinate-all-things-root/214596-list-fascinate-themes-roms.html

And saps does the same for kernels http://androidforums.com/fascinate-all-things-root/235766-one-stop-shopping-sf-kernels.html
