Help Everyone with extended batteries 3500mAh+

Do you get incorrect readings while charging?

My charge will say 99% but when I reboot into recovery, it'll say something else, for example 55%, then when I reboot back into the system, it'll adjust the percentage to what the recovery was reading.

Seidio 4000 here - same thing happens with me. It gets to 99% way too quickly, then stays there for a awhile before getting fully charged.

So the system doesnt read the battery correctly? I was thinking about getting an anker 3500 extended battery the back plate looks way less massive and hulkish than any other extended batteries. But im just worried if ill ever be able to get a good reading and if theres any apps that would remedy the system not reading it correctly?

Also how is the battery life with your batteries?

Well I'm thinking of purchasing an extended battery myself, prob the SEIDO 4000mah kit with the skin and skelton. It will run me about $110.00 with shipping from Amazon..However, I did previously buy a external power supply from Anker 10,000mah I think that was a mistake because it will take many hours to charge ..maybe get to use it with other devices as it comes with all kinds of attachments...I did have a evo v but since returned it because it was defective..:(:(:(

It doesn't read correctly when charging. For example, I can be at 70%, and 15-20 minutes later it'll show 99% - there's no way it's charging that quickly, but it'll stay at 99% for awhile. After it's charged, it does show the correct reading off the charger...it only seems to be an issue getting a true reading while charging (not an issue for me at all).

As far as the battery, 12 hours of light/regular use, I'll still have 80% left.

<note> I might be horribly misinformed here, so don't yell at me if a gnome pops out and punches you in the nuts </note>

If you're rooted you should reset your battery stats. I am not sure how to do it on this phone yet via recovery (not rooted here yet), but you can delete the battery stats file via adb

Code:
su
rm /data/system/batterystats.bin
Just make sure your battery is fully charged before doing this, otherwise it probably won't help. So I would plug it in over night just to make sure and delete the battery stats, restart the phone and don't charge it until the phone dies and won't turn back on.

You can wipe battery stats in pretty much any recovery nowadays. I have both TWRP and 4EXT (obviously not loaded at the same time) and they both offer that option.

I've got the $19 Anker 3500mah + back cover coming from Amazon(should be here tomorrow in the mail), so hopefully this works out well(Seidio was a trifle steep IMNHO) as this phone does TRULY chew it's way through the stock batt... (v. my experience w/OV & MT)

Well, my batt came, Engrish is funny as hell to, for example, my batt has a "crust":
"Crust of the battery is made with grade bulletproof plastic..."

...but wait it gets better:
"...which is endurable and not up to scratches."
My LUCKY day!

"Do not dispose in fire or water"
Well, I guess that I'm safe disposing in earth and wind then...

"Keep away from metal objects..."
Given that the contact pins in the phone are metal HTF am I supposed to actually use it IF I'm to keep it from metal "objects".

...and even better, they're certificated!
"ISO 9001|ISO 14001 CERTIFICATED"
FTW! ROFLMAO!

...and for further laughs there's a sticky label that says for WHITE... black must be the new white...

Laughs aside, I'll not be trying this for a while as my V decided to start constantly rebooting yesterday evening(seems fine ATM), but I was also experiencing weird echo effect on calls so I'm thinking that I'll be dropping by BB today and doing an exchange.

I'm currently on the stock battery cause I was having problems with Mobster's ROM not reading the battery percentage correctly. But good lord the stock battery drains FAST compared to the extended batteries. Obviously the stock battery isn't going to last as long but I didnt know it was THAT bad. Been off the charger for 2 hours and 7 minutes and I'm already down to 73%

Well, I've been out and about for several hours, taking care of some things and the V hasn't rebooted yet, so I'm going to take a shot at trying the new batt, make some calls once charged, but IF I still get echo I'll be exchanging anyways.

[EDIT]
hmmmm... came almost fully charged... replacement cover is OK, kind of a tightish fit though, but they put holes for the speaker and it sounded louder on boot than the stock case...

Power/vol "buttons" are stiffer, which is good IMNHO.
[/EDIT]

...had low power last night after cold front/t-storms went through for a few hours so used 3G/cell/GPS quite heavily reading new, checking outage, phone, etc... anyways...
so far on my FIRST charge with the 3500mah Anker I'm @ 50% batt with 1d 14h 7m running on batt... not too shabby, and WAY WAY WAY better than stock.

Bear in mind my usage pattern is generally light, but with the new batt I've been leaving cell/3g on(no 4g unless I go a few miles N) which I used to ALWAYS turn off unless using 3g/cell or expecting messages/calls to save batt, also avoiding GPS whenever possible(most of the time) as on the OV and MT GPS would quite literally suck the batt dry in almost no time.

NOTE: I also had one reboot while using yesterday, and then a total unresponsiveness just before power was fully restored(I assumed off batt meter and dead batt), BUT attaching to charger got nothing -> pop cover and it would seem that the batt had shifted completely away from the contacts, so I'm also guessing the reboot was from a temp shift of the batt away from the contacts... i.e. may end up needing a shim but so far so good today.

ADD'L NOTE: Had almost constant rebooting loop one evening earlier in the week and the phone was stationary at that time with the stock batt, so reboot may not ALWAYS be from a shifting batt... I'm guessing those boots were Sprint/VM screwing with their network in my area as the next morning it was fine all morning with stock batt(i.e. no rebooting) so instead of exchanging I decided to try my new 3500mah Anker that had just arrived and that's where I still am ATM... Still FIRST charge cycle so, it's looking like I'll need 10d or so to go through 5.

Perhaps I should find my instructions and read them!

I have yet to try my new 3500maH battery because I have not found a belt case big enough for it yet.

I do get great battery life with stock, with brief use all day. I would guess I might get 72hrs using it as a pda for meeting reminders and quick email checks.

It does seem to drain quickly when the screen is on. So watching streaming video does it in quickly, even powered and sending HDMI over MHL, I draw stock battery down about 8%/hr.

That's why I love these extended batteries. We shouldn't have to turn off our data at all just to get decent battery life to last throughout the day

Can any of you with the extended batteries show picks of the phone with the battery and back installed and with the normal back? I would greatly appreciate it. Especially the people with the anker battery and back i like way that one looks compared to the others that make the entire phone twice as think!

Anyone?? In addition to that last post. How long does it take to fully charge an extended battery? And how do you know for sure that its really fully charged? is there any good apps that are perfect for extended batteries? Im still on the fence about one..lol

It does add bulk and weight. I got used to it in a couple days. I like the added bulk because I have a better grasp on it and is still pocketable. There's vids on youtube that'll show the added bulk.

It takes a while to charge, probably 6 hours or so. The conditioning period is the first 5-6 times and charge it 2-3 hours after the light turns green.

However, on custom ROMs, the light doesn't turn green for some reason. I just leave it to charge overnight and it lasts all day.

Ok thanks for the info on charging the battery but i know how thick the cases are that double the phone completly but i want to see the Anker back plate that one is way better than the chunky ones cause it just has a hump for when the battery sticks out.

Didn't realize how much I actually used my phone til I barely used it. This is with light to moderate usage.
