Help EVO 4G SD card issues

I am on my 3rd SD card. Why do they keep burning up on this phone? I have only had this phone for 3 months

Welcome james_kohles!

What size sd cards are you using? Are you getting the same brand every time?
Where are you getting them from?
And does trying to format the card help at all? I would assume they are getting corrupt and cannot be read after a while?

Are you stock, unrooted?

Sorry for all the questions here, just trying to get some more info to see if there is a common denominator:)

The first 2 I got from sprint, they were 8th. The last one from Walmart and it was 16g. They all were not able to format on phone or on the computer.

Hmmm, once the sd card is not recognized by the phone, does the computer recognize it?
I am guessing not since you said you could not format it via the computer....???

Well, unless someone comes up with a better explanation, I would say it's hardware related...

You could try to do a factory reset, but I'm guessing that would help the issue.

Just be aware that a factory reset will delete your apps and contacts/sms/mms etc, so be sure to save your contacts to your google account.
As far as your apps/data and other things, there are apps such as Helium

Did you get the phone from a reliable source? Perhaps it had this glitch and the previous owner decided to sell it?

Like I said, I surmise it's a hardware issue as I cannot think of what else it could be :dontknow:

If your on your 3rd SD card in 3 months, i would point to a possible mounting issue. Just like any other memory card, an SD card, if improperly mounted, meaning anything between the copper contacts not making a proper connection, or the SD card not fitting securely in its mount, any attempt to save data or access data on the SD card has a chance of rendering the card corrupt. Im not saying this is exactly what the problem is, im only saying that this can be considered a possibility. with your phone being stock, your not going to have access to any higher functions that work with the SD card, so i would say that its not anything your doing with apps or whatever through your phone, and 3 SD cards tell me it wasnt because of "faulty or failing" cards. perhaps having the SD mount looked at, just in case, it never hurts :)
