Evo and PS3

Thought i would just post this since i did not see it anywhere else, for those looking to play stuff off your phone onto a tv, if you have a ps3 just hook up the evo with a usb cord as a disk drive and play it that way, works great, no lag, and no need to transfer to the ps3. I was also able to transfer movies i had on my ps3 straight to the evo without having to put them onto the computer first. So if you have a ps3 no need to get a micro hdmi cable.

have only been able to get avi to play, wmv won't play properly in any of the programs i have tried. I used rockplayer to play avi, you have to serach for it, not in the app store.

Just hook it up as disk drive like was stated and you just play the files. I been using all my phones like this for years. It acts as a portable hard drive. Most formats play but some don't. This really has nothing to do with the phone but the PS3.

yeah, avi files work on the ps3, i thought he was asking how to play them on the evo.

i was.... guess my normal movies would work.... i haven't tried them yet.
i just tried to do some anime, so i could watch them during lunch but it didn't work out

So if i watch a movie on dvd on my ps3 and hook up the evo, it will transfer the movie automatically?

What this basically does (for all those asking about this functionality) is uses the phone as an external hard drive. The system (in this case the PS3) is doing all the decoding so all it's doing is reading files from the EVO. Even with all of the newer TVs today, they have USB ports and built in media codecs so you can just plug your EVO into your TV as an external drive and read files (photos, video, music) from it. The HDMI out on the EVO just uses the CPU of the EVO instead. The big advantage to using it as an external drive instead is that it charges at the same time (unlike HDMI)
