Root EVO Android 2.2 3.70 HTC Update Rooting

Hello all, this is my first post here so please be patient with me :)

I got the new update from HTC a few days ago...like a dumbass lol...and now I'm trying to root my EVO. I recently heard last night that it could be rooted using the newest version of unrEVOked 3.3 which supports my newest updates. So I download it and start trying to use it. Then I find out that I had to update the driver for my Windows 7 computer. So I update the driver using Device Manager and all that. Now I started trying to use unrEVOked. It shows up, tells me to put my phone in USB debugging and charge only, then it goes to the screen "Pushing Recovery... (3526656 bytes)" and has been stuck on this screen for over 45 minutes now! Before I tried it, it was stuck on the screen for hours. What am I doing wrong?

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!

I rooted my 3.7 Evo last night. the only difference I see with your procedure is that I installed Hboot drivers.

Here is the thread I used to root.

[n00b Guide] rooting and more noob stuff UPDATED 12/22/10 - xda-developers

Just don't try to do the Amon_RA backup. It didn't work for me, and a very nice person from here had to talk me through fixing it.

Interestingly enough, it stopped. I did install the drivers for my computer through unrevoked's site and through a YouTube video. And I know it worked because of how mine looked compared to his.

Now the phone rebooted, and unrevoked said that it was rebooting and waiting for the system to load up. But then it rebooted it again...so I'm not sure if something went wrong. But thanks for the help! I'll look into it for sure.

FIXED!!

I waited and allowed it to continue to run. Apparently, it got done in 2 and a half hours. Now I'm using it's wifi tether as we speak :D Thanks for the help Pioneer74. I didn't use it nor did I need to, but thank you for the advice.

I was very nervous rooting mine for the first time last night but let it run its course and BOOM. My root only took about 15 minutes though.

Now playing with the phone and installing new apps is still going on the next day.

I used to have the Samsung Moment and I rooted that in no time. I rooted that about...3 times? I think. Anyway, I was just getting impatient because I have done all sorts of hacking, jailbroke my iPod and friends' iPhones and none ever took as long as 2 and a half hours lol So I thought for sure something happened.

Feels great to have it rooted huh? I liked the Samsung Moment's root better because of the customization, but I guess the Android 2.2 has all those built into it haha Anyway, I guess I'll start a new topic...:
What apps have you found the best for rooting so far? I'm searching through the market for "root user" "root" lol
