I've found that renaming the .apk files is a much easier way of removing "bloatware" than removing them entirely. This way I don't have to backup the phone first or worry about pushing files back to the phone that I didn't want to delete.
Following the removal posts, rather than
rm -f filename.apk
I chose to
mv filename.apk filename.apk.bak
It has the same affect but no worries about scrambling to push a file back to the phone.
This is for the EVO, but it should be universal.
Hope this helps.
