Help Evo boot failure due to exchange sync

Thanks for this info! I just deleted my Exchange account and set it back up using a alpha-numeric password and then rebooted my device and I no longer have the issue! This does indeed fix the issue! I was having the issue before with the numeric password. Thanks again!

I can confirm that this works.

I just got my Evo on Friday and set-up activesync for exchange. I had run my battery down to see how things was working and when I turned it back on it worked fine. I do not have a numeric only password. Sort of reverse confirmation?:)

Has anyone tried other exchange/email apps like Touchdown? Does that eliminate the need for a password-entry?? I also agree, having to enter a password every time (esp alpha-numeric) is annoying. Thoughts?

Just downloaded Lockpicker, and it works perfectly!! Thanks for the great info!! I recommend it to avoid the annoying synch-locks!

I'm trying touchdown now.. it's free for 30 days.. and I never have to type in a password beyond the initial setup. I don't know if that's because of the way our Exchange server is set up (I have no clue what version we're even on honestly, other than our desktop's use Exchange 2007).

So far I like it.. especially the ability to include/exclude specific mail folders.

One item it will not do, but none of them that I've found, is sync a Public Calendar. We have one for the 'department' that our company uses for vacations, work at home and some other items everyone needs to know about. I cannot find a way to let touchdown (nor native android app) to sync a public calendar yet.

The exchange problem can be fixed really easily...

#1. Use an alpha-numeric password (the issue only occurs with numerical only passwords)

#2. download Lockpicker from the app store & never worry about entering the password again.

I was a victim of the reboot loop because of numeric only password used for ActivSync for my works email...Cleared Data using the down volume button and then hit the power button > clear data > re-entered all emails (including works outlook)...and this time using alpha-numeric, and restarted the phone...voila!! no more boot loop.:D

Picked up my Evo on June 4 and it exhibited the boot failure issue on day 1. Sprint phone tech support said it must be the phone and told me to return it to RS.

RS swapped it for a new one yesterday and, once again, it got stuck in the reboot loop. Just found this thread, deleted my Exchange account, added it back with an alpha-numeric password and bingo...no more boot problems. My old password was all numbers.

Thanks!

FYI - For anybody that uses HTC Sync, there was an update posted on HTC's website on 6/16. Version 2.0.40. I used HTC Sync once to sync my Outlook contacts/calendar, but I found that there were too many duplicates from my google calendar, so i haven't sync'd since.
