Accessories EVO Camera Protection

With some of the reviews mentioning that the EVO will lay directly on the camera's lens, is there a chance that the screen protection manufacturers will create a disc to protect the lens as well?

It might not get trashed right away, but it would be nice to be able to swap out a disc rather than having permanently fuzzed out pics from the scratches on the lens.
 
What I did with my Hd2 sence it laid direcly on the camera lens I went to walmart they have a screen protecter pack comes with like 8 cut a circle out that fits the lens and put it on there worked just fine, wife has hd2 now and she isn't the safest with phones. And its still on there
 
this camera is no different that the incredible and the nexus one, my nexus didn't scratch after about 4 mos of use.

the phone doesn't sit flat, but on an angle, so the 'rim' of the camera is what gets beat up, not the lense.

I am sure HTC designers tested this out extensively.

why would HTC design something that is doomed to fail? bad business if they did....

"What really concerns us here is that the phone rests directly on the lens, which is pretty unheard of; modern smartphones with decent cameras have a tendency to either recess the lens or conceal it with a sliding cover, but you won't find any of that with the EVO, so it'll be interesting to see whether users' photos become cloudier over time as the glass gets scratched up. Needless to say, we'd probably recommend against placing the phone on hard surfaces -- particularly face-up -- but we suppose the silver lining here is that the protruding lens brings the speakerphone off the surface for maximum volume."

That is what creates concern for me.
 
I'm sure there will be some type of lens protection. The best thing would be to have put a sliding door on like cameras.
 
The screen protector idea is actually a really good one. Just be sure to get it really flat and it should protect the lens and keep it from interfering with picture taking.
 
When HTC designed this phone, I'm sure they tested it thoroughly for normal wear and tear. Its just a freakin phone. Use it and get rid of it after the contract expires. Geez!
 
Yea, I don't think its that serious. If you're really worried about it just buy a screen protector for the camera, but I highly doubt HTC would have overlooked this.
 
I am not worried necessarily. Just concerned. I figure if screen protectors are affordable, a lens cover would be next to nothing. I am sure it could be easily designed for many of these similar phones.

I would buy one when I buy a screen protector if they offered it. Just me.
 
I'm kind of worried about this though my 2G iPhone has a lens that is completely flush with the device that rests flat on the table.
Maybe putting a little rubber ring around the camera would be a good idea to keep the glass from touching so much, but I guess being at an angle it probably won't scratch as much as my 2G iPhone which I have had no problem with, even though the whole back is scratched up.
 
Anyone figure out a solution? I'm very careful with my phone, and my lens already has a few microscratches on it.

I picked up a body glove just for that reason. It adds just enough thickness to the back of the phone to keep the lense off of the surface when you set it down. Adds very, very little to the overall size and well worth it to protect the lense. Slides in and out of my front pocket just fine.
 
how did you manage to scratch it already?

I dont use a case and havnt had an issue. And if you look, the lens is actually recessed a minute amount. I think it would take some effort to actually scratch the glass. I.E. laying the phone down on some dirt/grit and physically sliding it around so it would scratch.

Seidio case is pretty slim. Otherwise, get the invisible shield back skin, it should protect the camera lens.
 
LRF to the rescue!! Get some "little rubber feet" - the dimple kind. Put 4 on your phone so when you set it down a) the lens doesn't touch, b) the phone doesn't touch (less heat), and c) the speakerphone doesn't get muffled (although admittedly it's an amazing speakerphone and only has like 20% muffle/loss; my NexusOne's is in the same place but it is muffled like 70% when I lay it flat on its back).
