Help EVO capping all graphics @ 30FPS?

Thank you!

And just wanted to add one more thing in here, this is a phone not a PSP or a Gameboy. If you want high FPS no lag and solid rubust gameplay buy a darn video game unit.

The same can be said for the camera or the video recorder, a simple 100 dollar snap and shoot will kick the teeth out of the Evo, it's not a dedicated video game console, camera or camcorder it's a darn phone.

HOWEVER ... While researching my purchase b4 launch, I watched a video from sprint about the phone on youtube. Where they explained that the camera in particular, they believed they were making it unnecessary to have a 2nd camera. It was very much a tout on their part suggesting that this phone was in fact EVOlution to single device to replace 2 or 3.
if you recall, apple was similar with their suggestion that you no longer needed a media player when they upgraded internal capacity to store significant media, it didn't overheat or CRUSH the battery with that advent though, so it was successful in that area.
So while i agree with what you are saying technically, PER sprint, this should not be the case. many of the same limitations, camera, video record and playback, VIDEO games still cannot reach the levels promised because the processor gets too hot, and battery gets too dead.
oh well, maybe the next gen will deliver on these promises.

I tried to find the youtube vid i saw at the time, but its been weeks, and too much searching, all the vid thumbs look the same. but trust me its out there, and prelaunch was 1 of the first to show up when evo was searched.

I don't know why people are saying there is no visible difference between 60 fps and 30. Just go try another android phone like the Hero or even an iPhone. It's extremely obvious. The text blurs and scrolling is choppy.

For all the people who think this is a non issue, please contact HTC and Sprint and tell them they are wasting time trying to "fix this problem". Cause they acknowledged the issue!

Update 6/14/10: Got a call from Dan Hesse's Office(CEO). Here's what happened:

1. Sprint has reached out to HTC about this issue. They acknowledge the problem and said they are working on a Firmware update that will address this. However, they could not give us an exact time frame.

2. The engineer at HTC encouraged us to go to HTC support and send emails to them about this issue so it gets more attention internally, and hopefully speed things up.

Also, I asked her to relay a message to Dan Hesse, Saying that this might not seem like a big deal at first, but it is in fact a huge one. Customers, especially those coming from an iPhone, expect their phones to "just work", and even if they don't notice it at first, that 30fps cap will get them frustrated at some point, and they will erroneously attribute it to developer, the phone or Sprint, hurting everyone in the process.

She also said Sprint wants this resolved, but they are pretty much at HTC's mercy right now.

Have had no issues with my Evo or gaming on it, its nice to complain about tech specs, but I have had no real-world defects resulting from this cap.

junkda, i HIGHLY recommend you find someone with a newer android smartphone, and play the same games on them. then go back to the EVO, and see what you think. you may / may not notice it, but if you spend a couple minutes properly with something like the galaxy s or droid x you'll be stunned.
