Root Evo Design 4G root Help Need

Hi,

I am having Evo Design 4G running Android 4.0.3 (ICS). I want to temporary root it which means root privilege available until phone's next reboot.

Any idea how to achieve this?

Thanks in advance

Thank you for the post :) I unzip motochopper tool and used pwn binary inside it to gain root access. I push it to /data/local/tmp and execute it using adb. Exploit seems to be executed and after sometimes, device reboot in recovery, then norma;;y it boots and nothing happen. No # on adb shell.

How to gain temp root on device. device is S-OFF. plz help :s

I am hardly an expert but I would go to the htcdev.com website, sign-up and follow the process to unlock the boot loader. That will give you access to S-off and the boot loader. Once the boot loader is unlocked, you can load clockworkmod or twrp to root the device.

Thank you for replies,

Does this way rooting wipe out device data, my primary objective for rooting is collect data from the device, for example deleted item, apps cached data etc.. (some sort of forensic project)

What this will do is give you a stock rooted rom and yes it will wipe everything on the phone and it will be just like when you bought it but with root privileges. Make sure to backup your important data that you dont wanna lose. Gmail will backup contacts and apps, calendar etc if you set gmail up that way. after you do this you will be able to use to access your root directory and if you choose to you can use a virtual machine then you can study your phone for your project. Don't forget to make a backup with a non root backup app of your choice. You also will be able to for a custom recovery like team win recovery project or clockwork mod. I believe this custom stock rom comes with clockworkmod but you can easily flash TWRP using clockworkmod. Its your choice.

Thank you very much for the explanation. The problem is if I root using the suggested method it wipes out all data.
My goal in the project is to come up with a forensic supportive tool. In forensic primary objective is to gather evidences from (in my case) Android device while preserving data integrity, and a way it accept in legal issues. (This is only a final year university project). If root wipe out all data, then no forensic.

I need to root to have access to /data folder mainly.
Please help me to identify a way to do this. I have below devices, and it s enough to root at least one.

HTC Wildfire S running 2.3.5
HTC Evo design 4G running 4.0.3
Samsung Galaxy SIII runnning 4.3

Thank you very much for any kind of help in this situation.
Thanks a lot
