Help Evo is acting crazy!

jmwade32

Newbie
So in the last month or two, here is a list of things my Evo has done on it's own:
-inability to text for a few hours (hasn't happened in a while though)
-deleted all texts (fortunately I had them backed up)
-changed wallpapers
-deleted apps (Dropbox is the most recent)
-changed ringtones...incoming calls and notifications
-lost voicemails

The last two are the craziest. My text notification changed to an old voicemail from my dad! So I was hearing his voice every time I got a text! I went to Sprint and they said it would be 2-3 hours before someone could look at it so I told them forget it. They suggested updating my phone, which I went home and did to the newest Android 2.3.5.

What is going on with my phone? I didn't want to wait at Sprint and they said if they couldn't fix it, they would do a factory reset. I have Lookout Security and have been clean. Any suggestions???

Whoa now that is odd!
Right before this started, do you happen to remember if you had downloaded an app that may be causing this? But for an app to do all that is wierd. Perhaps a sideloaded app?
I assume you are not rooted?
Right at this moment I cannot think of a solution besides the reset.:o

The only thing I can thing of is I started the process of rooting but it was very long and complicated so I didn't go through with it. Im pretty sure I didn't download anything to modify the phone for that. As far as apps, I've been real careful with that because I constantly get a low on space notification.

Edit: I do remember downloading some Disneyland apps for a trip I took in July. Thats all I can think of.

Huh. That is strange. If you're sure it's not the software, and you've checked all your apps to make sure that they don't have any unwanted permissions, that only leaves a hardware issue. Have sprint check it out. They have some better diagnostic tools. Just be sure to go in there when the store won't be as busy.

Unfortunately, that might have to be my next step. :(
