Help EVO keeps restarting itself over & over

HTC EVO 4G - was playing angry birds seasons, received a text & I tried to check the text, phone locked up. Couldn't get to the home page, pulled the battery it turned back on just fine. The haptic feedback wasn't working so I restarted it & now when I try to turn it back on it won't get past the 4G animation before restarting again.

Please help or point me in the right direction

ok so when you say restart, do you mean that the animation restarts or does it go back to the htc white screen then the sprint boot animation starts and over and over again? try pulling the battery out again.

Keeps going back to the white screen. I've pulled the battery multiple times & everytime I turn it back on, it keeps doing the same thing & won't completely boot

I got the same reboot rollover too had to wipe everything at startup to get it to work again! YUK! Lost all my high scores, levels completed etc... Happened when I was taking photos, looks like memory allocation issues.

This is has been happening to me as well. I found that since the update, it stays on the 4G screen in the opening for a longer time than before. You just have to wait it out.

I took it in & there's no way to fix it & they're going to wipe it as well. They think I fried the software

How the h*ll does that happen? Oh well, I was hoping someone else here had the same issue & there was an easy fix, but there's not.

Me too. Damn thing just keeps rebooting. All I did up was the 4.24.651.1 update and it all blew up. Guess I'll be headed to the sprint store in the morning.

I TOTALLY had this problem and was SO pissed when no one seemed to have an answer! But this is how I fixed mine! I only just fixed it so keep your fingers crossed that it CONTINUES to work!

  1. Hard Reset (hold the "down volume" key for 5 seconds, then press and release the power button).
  2. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock.
  3. Most sites at this point will say click Clear Storage. This will delete EVERYTHING on your phone. I clicked on Fastbook instead. Then a screen popped up that said things that I don't remember (and I don't want to try to do it again because I don't want my phone to break ;) ), but then I clicked on Reboot and when it started up it worked!
Hopefully this helps everyone in this situation! I'm going to back up everything on my phone, just in case it happens again! Good luck!!!

this happened to my wife, she got a new(well probabably a refub) phone by calling sprint and telling them the problem, this was without the extra coverage policy and about 10months after owning the phone...i had posted about the problem some time ago and got no responses about it, she called sprint and got it resolved, no problem.

Mine has done this a few times in the past. Mostlu when im switching batteries. Pull the battery, and before you try to turn it on, hold the volume down button, and press the power button. The phone will go to a colorful boot menu. Use the volume buttons to scroll up or down to reload bootloader or something like that. After that is done, scroll down to reboot. You have to use the power button to select your choice. Sometimes i have to do it a few times to get it to work, but it works. Hope that helps.
