Evo on rollercoaster

Yea, I was thinking that the evo would be a lot harder to hold due to its form factor. I probably wouldnt do it anyway.....probably

Took this on the MAMBA at worlds of fun KC MO. Got yelled at afterwards, but hell we were in the very last car so it wasnt a chance of it hitting someone behind us if I dropped it. Didnt have the guts to video the ride just a pic on the 60 second ride to the top of the first hill.

I had my HTC Touch Diamond in cargo pants pockets last year while at Six Flags and it survived just fine.

Lol i used to take 2 different iphones i had on rollercoasters here at busch gardens in tampa and video record the trip.
I plan on doing it with my evo on high def!
The only problem youll have is the ride attendants can sometimes be bitchy about it.
Just hold on tight!!!!

I took it on the 3 largest rollercoasters at dorney park, in my belt holster, and it was fine. i did turn it off though, wasn't planning on texting while riding.

I took my Evo to Lagoon in Utah last week. I rode Wicked which jostles you around like you wouldn't believe. Awesome ride. I had the Evo in my cargo shorts pocket the entire time. Not a single problem.

Thanks for the input all.

P.S. Wouldn't the g-force pressure from coasters possibly crack the screen/camera depending on which way it's facing in your pocket from being pressed so tightly against you?

The Mamba is a pretty smooth ride so it probably wouldn't be a huge problem filming it. I still wouldn't risk it without a wrist strap though. I always leave the camera pocketed and then put it back in my pocket before entering the terminal. The only other way they could see it is by looking at those pictures they take on the rides (or I suppose an attendent with a sharp eye could catch you filming).

I had much better luck filming with a Sanyo CA6 with pistol type grip over the Kodak Playsport (it will film with the viewfinder folded shut) and an adjustable/locking wrist strap. (Sanyo Xacti VPC-CA6 Images - Camcorders) Both the Playsport and CA6 are waterproof so I can film the water rides also.

I grew up in Overland Park but live up in Seattle now. We visited OP a few years ago in June and hit WOF on a crappy rainy day (just like Seattle!). Fortunately it stopped raining (stayed overcast) after we rode a few rides and then we pretty much had the run of the park the entire day, no lines whatsoever. We did get to ride Mamba in a light drizzle, it was like being sand blasted whipping through the fast parts. Patriot was a blast too.

floner and slschmidt76,

I hear the new wooden coaster, the Prowler, there is pretty nice. How is it? I remember riding the Timber Wolf and getting the crap beat of me. I would imagine the Prowler is more like Terminator Salvation at Magic Mountain, much smoother?

Yeah the timberwolf will take a kidney if your not ready for it.the prowler is a blast really smooth and really fast for a wooden coaster. And it has no lights at night.

That's how I lost my last phone. Took the HULK at Universal, Orlando. Phone flew out over the first hill. I'll never put a phone in my pocket again when on a ride. I'd keep it in my backpack or a locker. I wouldn't even trust it in a velcro'd pocket.

Odd question:

Would you take your Evo on a rollercoaster/rides at an amusement park or leave it in the car? I have cargo shorts with pockets that SHOULD keep it secure...but the vibrations alone from the coaster scare me let alone losing it on a the ride on sharp turns/upside down on parts of the ride.

I do have a case with a clip which I believe can also be looped through a belt.
I wouldn't chance it bruh!

OMG GUYS, I'm going deep sea diving! Would you guys recommend me leaving the phone in pocket too??

I can't believe this is a real thread.

Yeah, but who cares if you would have dropped your iPhones.

went to Six Flags over Texas...have the belt clip pouch thing...stayed on fine...no issues...of course I kept one hand on it at all times on the roller coasters but I dont think I needed to

I went to King dominion in VA this summer and Universal Studios Orlando when I was at King Dominion I left my phone in the car but I took it in to universal and it went on a few roller coasters with me and its fine. Just be careful make sure its at the bottom of your pocket when you get on.
