Would you say the upgrade from the Hero to the EVO is worth paying $10 extra a month? This is my big hangup, as I don't have 4g and I frankly don't want to spend $10 for nothing (who does?). Since my Hero is under warranty from Best Buy, I could hypothetically return it and get the contract price for the EVO, since I bought my Hero under contract (this would work, right?). I am coming close to a month for my Hero, so this option would only be viable for a short period; after that, it is the point of no return for me. All in all, I am wondering if YOU would say it is worth the extra $120 a year upgrading from the Hero, to the EVO? I just watched a video of the EVO last night and saw how smooth it is and how much bigger it is than the HERO and I just thought that I want it, but it is gay how sprint added the $10. Sorry if I am ranting on and on, but I am just wondering from previous HERO owners only, do you think it is really worth it? I am semi-content with my Hero (at least I was till I saw how smooth the EVO ran), but if it is hands down worth the extra $120, I just might go for it. Thanks -Tanner

Not sure how it is either happy or homosexual to add a fee to uncap 3g/4g data and grant you access to any of Sprint's Wimax networks in various cities but it is a valid concern.

As far as the phone, it is a great improvement. Easier to type on, faster, nicer screen, etc. Whether the bump in price is worth it would be a personal decision.
 
I'd say it's worth it definitely, but I HATED the Hero. Only lasted a couple of months with mine before I got rid of it and switched to a blackberry. I'm much happier with the Evo.
 
I had a Hero and paid the contract price I think around $279 after rebate, then they dropped the price to $199 and now I think it's only $99. I traded it back to Sprint for $80 to get the Evo for full price. They allowed me to keep the battery, charger and MicroSD card from the Hero. Personally, I felt bad about giving up my Hero, because I love that phone too, but having the Evo is so much better! I love the Evo more and I can hardly put it down and the battery still lasts as long as the Hero for me. The screen size alone is worth to exchange the Hero with the Evo. Everything becomes easy to do, browsing the web, reading forums, typing, etc. I also had issues with the Hero. I could not use the bluetooth because of audio and syncing problem, plastic cracking around the usb port and dust under the screen. There is also no official 4G coverage in Los Angeles. I say official, because Sprint hasn't announced it yet but I'm starting to see 4G signal in some areas and as what other members of this forum reported. So I'm using the Evo only on Sprint's 3G network, but I could swear that the speed is way faster than 3G speed I was getting from Hero. The Evo is the very first product I ever bought on the first day it came out. I normally wait until all the issues if any are resolved before I buy any technology products, but not this time. I just couldn't wait to get my hands on the Evo even with the extra $10/month
 
Make this simple. The Evo experience is SO much better than Hero, I would be willing to pay $25 - $30 more a month. Again, SO much better.
 
The Hero is a "sidekick" compared to the Evo.... Evo Batman, Hero...not even robin...Batgirl maybe... I tried to use my hero for a day to see if it was really worth it....and I was upset all day..... Once you Evo.... you can't hero
 
Yeah I got my Hero in Feb but then got the Evo on launch day...it was totally worth it. I gave my mom my old Hero and when I went to show her some things on it today I couldn't believe I once thought that phone was awesome lol. The Evo blows it away.
 
No doubt in my mind it's worth it. Even adding $10 Sprint has the best price plans in the industry hands down. The Evo is amazing beyond amazing. As a certified phone geek who has gone through a LOT of phones, this is the best device I have ever gotten my hands on. $10/mo is more than worth it.
 
the hero was just to slow from every aspect...while texting back and forth with people it would be laggy when getting texts and sending out texts. the internet on the evo is so much nicer with the big screen especially using the back button on the browser, on the hero it would take forever to go to previous page. one of my favorite features is when you are talking on the evo and u take it off your ear to look at the screen it auto-turns on. lov that feature...

But yeah I do agree... I liked my Hero... was a good phone.. but it's a night and day difference with the Evo....

The Hero was barely tolerable. Sprint is already considerably cheaper than any other network for coverage. I don't like the $10, but the phone is so awesome I don't really care.
 
The Hero was a great phone...when it worked right. That was probably 70% of the time, so I cant complain too much. After putting 2.1 on it, it slowed way down though, was awful. Evo is a better phone in every way and it runs 2.1 correctly.
 
I liked my Hero. I even decided to keep it in the family. I gave it to my wife who still doesn't know how to work it properly. She is coming from a Blackberry. She says she likes the Hero better than it. I had my Hero rooted before the official 2.1 release then updated to it for my wife. As far as comparing the hero to the evo, its like comparing apples to oranges. The evo is so much smoother. Only I noticed better on thehero was the battery life. Comparing the two side by side, the hero can go the entire day with a little more than 60% battery life. The evo is lucky to get by with 25% battery life in the same given time. Now my wife uses the hero daily to send text messages and play her games.

Think of it like this both phones have 2.1, but the hero has a striped version of it. The evo is more likely to get 2.2 rather than hero.
 
Hated my hero, traded it for moment which was better, traded that for my EVO. I dont think ive ever really lived before I met EVO. Now i can die a happy man......is that gay?...basically what im trying to say is ive had sex with my EVO
 
Well I still have my Hero and it's ok. It only wants to act stupid when I'm in a hurry. But I would love to have an evo, but I don't think it's gonna happen for me. The only problem I see is for all the people who seem to find one flaw and then look for a new/better phone will be doing again soon as I'm sure sprint will come out with a new phone that's better real soon.
 
You don't understand the Evo then. I didn't get the Evo because of Hero issues although they were significant. I got the Evo because it was just better for me. I struggled to read the screen.

But the Evo has been such a better experience in so many ways I never knew I could have it so good.
 
I use to have the hero i am so glad i got the evo i love the bigger screen and the live wallpaper, its so much faster then the hero i am in love again.
 
Worth it for sure, it was a night and day difference in the speed of this device versus the hero...

Once you tweak the evo juuussttt right, its unstoppable.
