Root evo shift 2.3.3 root

RootDts

Lurker
We're all aware that HTC announced they will be unlocking the bootloaders on the EVO 3d, Evo Shift and sensation next month but this New Gingerbread 2.3.3. OTC has been released for about a month already.. We all know that all new android phones come with the new update but really no progress has been made, you would think a temproot would have been done by now I'm just completely frustrated that i'm stuck using this new updated shift because i wasn't lucky enough to obtain an older model -.-

It seems like this matter is not being taken serious and deserves more recognition. I think the bounty needs to be raised for the devs

Root exploit needed for htc EVO gingerbread 2.3.3‎ - xda-developers

Latest EVO 4G root uses Flash Lite exploit to do its deed -- Engadget

Yea, Im waiting a good perm root. I flashed back to stock to update radios and prl, and I updated to 2.3 on accident also..."ugh" But we got some good devs around here, so it'll be worth the wait

I read on xda that there is not perm root for gingerbread. I cant find any more info. Is this still correct? Is anyone working on a perm root?

why is no one discussing this anywhere? is progress being made anywhere? or should I just give up on a perm root?

ok so i just got my evo shift and i found cyanogen mod and really wanted to install it. of course i have to root first. thats the hard part though. iv been having a hard time rooting my phone. tried gingerbreak and that failed, tried visionary and that didnt work. any help? i heard that 2.3.3 isnt rooted well yet but im not sure. ill openly admit im a noobie at android. iv been working with webOS for the past 2 years and have no idea what im doing with android haha so any help is appriciated

Unfortunately there is not permanent root if your running 2.3.3, which means you wont be able to install any custom ROMs.

ahh ok. is it possible to downgrade to a version i can root? or would it be better to just wait for a new root to come out? im sure a new root isnt too far off

There is no downgrade possible. (unless you are rooted lol) There is a temp root solution, but I don't know what you are looking to do, so it may not be practical. No custom roms or recoveries with temp root, just root apps.

ahh yeah...oh well. thanks anyway. im not too hopeful for a permanent root soon...it seems like the temporary has been out for a long time and no one is even really talking about a permanent one in development

perm root might be closer than you think (at least closer than it was). A gracious xda member has offered a bad esn Shift to devs to help find root. Agrabren (teamwin) has agreed to work on finding root. No telling how long it will be but at least we have a good dev willing to help.

Once you've done the OTA update from Froyo to Gingerbread on the Shift, is there any way possible to go back to Froyo?

I'm beginning to think the perm root for Gingerbread might never come to pass....

I haven't seen any way. I think that in order to do so, you'd have to root first. I'm crossing my fingers for perm root soon. I wish I knew enough on the topic to contribute in some useful way. If I have to suffer through two years without a rooted phone, I'll explode.

Just wondering if anyone out there knows how close the devs are to getting us a permeninet root for the evo shift?
