Evo V Official Jellybean Update News Real?

Article doesn't post the source to the upgrade to Jellybean

It appears it references HTC themselves as the source. They say HTC has slated, so I personally would assume they are claiming from their wording to be citing HTC themselves. But we only have their word at this point.

Like I said. this wont happen. I will cancel my Phandroid acct and get a IPHONE If it does. That is how sure I am.. you can mark that down

If it happens why don't you just happily take the update and forget pulling a Judas on us? :D

Team D.I.R.T. Linaro Optomized Unofficial AOKP JB4.1

There is no big deal. I'm running aokp to but I'm just saying. This phone got jb ROMs on it so everybody no that it can run jb so if we get official jelly bean why leave? I'm just saying I don't understand.

Holy cow people. He was being sarcastic. Understand sarcasm? He's SO CONVINCED we won't get the update, that if we do he'll leave, he's trying to convey how SURE he is we're not getting the update. Just leave it at that.

iight dude im cool I got nothing else to say bout it

For the people that say why the hype over a Jelly Bean Update let me ask you this: "Does your 3D Camera Work?"...........

Yeah I thought so

Is it possible to be pessimistically optimistic?

In anycase, this makes no sense financially for HTC to do. Pretty sure V-Mob isn't a big enough player to warrant the resources, testing, etc. to make this happen.

If they really want to do something for us, they can release the damn kernal source.

Unfortunately, that's one of the main reasons the Evo 3D/V isn't going to get an official 4.1.1/Sense 4+ update. There are no new phones being introduced with 3D features and it would cost HTC a lot of resources to port and test all the drivers and apps required to support 3D on Jelly Bean.

HTC/Sprint promised Evo 3D users an upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich and we finally got it, albeit very late in the life cycle of ICS. No such promise was made for Jelly Bean and I just can't see HTC/Sprint doing it for the goodwill of 3D/V users. :(

They have released the kernel source, at least for the Evo 3D.

What developers really need is the source for the 3D drivers and apps, and HTC considers that proprietary. Although WiMax/4G is mostly working now on many AOSP based ROM's without the developers having access to the source, 3D is a lot bigger nut to crack with payback on way fewer devices.

i just figured htc would be like hey the evo 3d/v is a good phone lets keep pushing it thats what i thought or at least virgin mobile i no they cant just continue to sell android phones and not update them cause it aint good 4 their company and it drives people away. but idk....idk how virgin mobile pr htc thinks

I just checked the source code section of the htcdev.com website and the download is available for the VM version, including the changes made in the OTA. It's listed under Sprint as the carrier and Evo 3D as the device, but the 1.14.652.0 build number matches the VM OTA version, and the build below it is the 2.89.651.2 Sprint ICS version.

Unfortunately, those source downloads don't include the pieces HTC considers proprietary, including 3D and WiMax 4G, but at least there is source code available for the Evo V 4G. ;)
