EVO vs. E.V.O.

"I sir, may be an idiot. But there's one thing I am not sir, and that sir, is an idiot" ~Peter Griffin
It's just EVO(one word, no periods). Check HTC's website.

No that can't be right. Both Sprint CEO and HTC CEO call it "Evo". At the Sprint Confrence and CTIA everyone called it "Evo". You are the first I've actually seen call it E-V-O

I didn't call it E.V.O. I've been saying "Evo" all along. It's the recording when you call 800-SPR-INT1 that says E.V.O. which I find amusing :)

The speech program talking to you said the letters E. V. O. instead of Evo because Evo is not a normal word. That is all. Its just a computer talking.

Exactly...you are seeing a limitation of the Text to Speech technology

Ahhhh - It never occured to me that it was a speech program. That makes sense. It sounded like a pre-recorded message to me.

I wouldn't call it a limitation so much as proof that making EVO all caps is incredibly stupid, it drives me nuts just like Xbox LIVE.
If it's not an acronym don't capitalize all the letters.

I know some people are nostalgic for that name but I'm glad they changed it. It sounds to me like a kid's action figure.

Called Sprint customer service this morning and they called it E-V-O as well. Sounded strange to me, too. It will always be EVO (as in "EVOlution") to me.
