EVO's EVO's Everywhere! Do you see what I see?

The iPhone is great for those who just want one button access to just about anything they want, in a simple way.

Android phones in general are for those that want to do everything under the sun and moon, with a bit higher level of complexity but with more yielding results.

You see more android devices because they are on more carriers..apple has at&t. Now, if iphone was on every carrier like android was, you would see way more.

That being said..i love using my wireless tether to let my iphone coworkers download their items over 20mb.. :D

Also, sorry to say, i love android market and all..but if iphone were to come to Sprint, i would of got one. I would love to have something that works for whatever, and everything. You know how easy it would to just carry my ipod in my pocket, that i use as my phone? The iphone is a beautiful device, offers so much..but its just locked down. Its a good phone itself, its just for a different crowd. I use to be all hate apple, but ever since i got an ipod touch i love it, and i can't stay i wouldn't feel the same about an iphone.

At this juncture and my experience of android, i couldn't care less if the iphone was on all carriers, never own one and i can honestly say i never will, i simply prefer android.

I prefer Android as well, Bnice, because it's more fun to use. Personally, I like having something that you have to learn a bit about to actually be smarter than it. I hate picking up something then knowing everything about in less than 4 minutes. Give me something to look forward to every day! lol.

I may not be seeing that many here in Fort Worth, but a BUNCH of people that have seen mine immediately inquire "How did you get one?" "Where did you get it at??" "Did they have more or were they getting more soon??"

There may not be a lot of EVOs out there, but the demand for them and interest in them has far from slowed down. Sprint could get in several thousand here, and they'd be gone in a few days. The EVO is a well built, sleek and very functional Android device... which will only improve, the more of them that are sold.

A Sprint person (that shall remain nameless) gave me "his" theory on the EVO (with a Samsung produced screen) shortage. He says this: Samsung was just making the screens for the EVOs... not other components, but for all the new Samsung androids (Epic, Intercept) that just hit the market, they would be making much more profit, because they were making the entire phone. So he thinks production of EVO screens was basically shut down to manufacture screens for "their phones".

He thinks now that the Epic has been released, that we'll see a flood of EVOs, and he also feels they will wildly outsell the Epic. I guess we'll see if he's right.

I work at McDonald's and every day on drive-tru I see people with their EVO sitting on their lap, playing music, texting or other things like that. I even saw an EVO with a shattered screen and the customer told me how it broke.

On the other side I see a shitload of people and their iphone XD

HTC quickly sourced Epson to start making screens for the EVO...

I came from an original iPhone to the EVO. I also have a 2nd gen iPod touch. It seems crazy, but I HATED my iPhone almost the whole way through, while still to this day loving my iPod Touch. I think it's because there are certain limitations I find acceptable on a PMP device, but not on a smartphone. My EVO is WAY smarter than my iPhone. Just my experience though.

I saw one Iphone 4 in the wild. A guy about my age (25) came to my shop looking at the building next door. So I asked him about it and he proceeded to tell me how great it is and how it can do this and that and what now. I then pullout my EVO and say checkmate, anything you can do I can do better.

And then he was like - here let's take some pictures and whooped your ass! I took the same pic right next to my buddie's iphone 4, at night, and his was SO much better. Where my evo got a good picture, on the left there were red lights. On the iphone 4, those red lights you could easily see was a building. So don't say ANYTHING you do I can do better cuz it ain't true. you should say "alot of things you can do I can do better". You can't edit video on your device either.

true....
but...

i can make a phone call better on my cell phone... ftw

TBH, I've seen NO ONE with an EVO outside of a Sprint Store. Seen plenty of Moments and other Android based devices but no EVOs.

I am not seeing to many iPhones 4's. Still mainly iPhone 3G or 3GS. Blackberries is are the most domination. Where I am at. About 5 people where I worked picked up the Droid X

I like being the only person with the EVO so i can show off tethering and other stuff that the iPhone can't do. I'm probably the only one who owns an EVO at my company of about 1,000 people or so.

I talked a couple at work out of getting an Evo. They're not power nerds so I told them to get heroes. I did this so people that actually would use the Evo to its full potential will actually get one.

I hope I did the right thing.

Why would you do that.... the Hero compared to the Evo is almost junky.... it's got some major issues.... to name one that pushed me over to getting this... the 30 second to over 2 minute wait time after making a call to make another one... the phone literally locks out when you try to make back to back calls. That makes the Hero, as a phone, totally useless. To me, that should be it's first and foremost task that has no issues. My Evo doesn't have that problem, it places and receives calls with no lag or lock ups.

I did it because they're not huge phone nerds. They wouldnt use it to its full potential. Where as a phone nerd would get a lot more use and would it put it to waste.

I'd be pissed if a friend got one to to be hip and use it to text and phone call. Where I use it for the 4g, tethering, 1000's of apps, internet, music, video etc.

It's their money though... I'd say let them go try 'em out in-store or something. Doesn't matter really who's getting an Evo first over someone else, it's still getting to people's hands. By your mentality here, over 50% of the people who got an Evo shouldn't have gotten it because they wanted it, but should have gotten something else because some other consumer knows how to use it better. That's kind of like saying someone shouldn't be allowed to get a burger or something because they're fatter than the person behind them... fact is, they're both hungry, but the one behind the other is just gonna have to wait a little longer.

Girl: "It's too big, it wont fit in my pocket during work (lawl really said that)."
Guy: "Its pretty cool i just want a new phone, it's between a hero and Evo."

So I saved them money and helped two people get their Evos a tad faster.

I helped 4 people right there. Good Samaritan or bestest?

wow.. i think i see your point or reasoning.
but you really did not do them any favors.

I have the Hero... want to get a better phone.
In order to make the hero a good phone.. you have to root it and jump on custom ROMs for better performance. if they could get an EVO.. they should. Better to have more and need less.. than to have less and need more. Just in case when they do need the other functions.

by your reasoning... over 95% of SUV driver should not have them. but the one time they need the space... good to have it.

Well, im still not sure which phone they're going for but all I know is that they both hate their current phone (3yr old BB and some Samsung slide phone). All I know is that the Evo wasn't for them.
