Exactly what does linking Facebook profile to contact do?

I've seen this feature on my Hero, but, have never used it.

What happens when I do this.

How do you UNDO this if you don't like what it does?

AFAIK all they allow you to do is use their facbook photo as the contact photo, allow you to see status updates on there contact card, and assign their birthdays to their contact card, to undo this just goto people>select the person> press menu> edit> click the facebok thing at the bottom and remove
