Root Exchange 2010 problem in custom roms

Cjboggs

Newbie
Hey Guys,

Im finding it difficult to find a rom the I can use with my college exchange server. All I know is (please pay attention..This is about to get very technical) cognition b6 works and the @ symbol on the email app is blue, most new roms I try the @ symbol of the email app is green.. Blue works ...Green dont..Told ya it would be technical.
Anyway if you are running a custom rom and it has a blue @ symbole on the email app Please let me know what rom u r using. I know cognition b6 does. I tried b7 & b8 but both have an updated email app. Or if someone know of a easy fix that I may not be aware of please let me know
Thanks
CJ

If Cogn is working way are you changing ROMs? You just wanting to test different ones? I use Darky 7.01 but it has Green symbol you are referring to.

Yea, Ive been on cog forever.. and i really like it but i hear so many great things about these other roms. I guess the grass is always greener some where else. I have flashed many great roms but this email issue seems to always bit me in the butt.

Take the email apk from the ROM that works and replace the email.apk (under /system/app) in the ROM you are using now with the blue version.

Good idea. Just rename the present email.apk then place new one in the folder.

Not sure how to do that do i need some.app to access that part of the OS.. Then can i save the working apk to my ext.sd the flash the new rom then replace? thanks gain for all your help

I use Root Explorer to do this. Copy the working email.apk(find file and Long Hold and you get options) to your External SD Card. After you have the new ROM on again go to Root Explorer go to Folder that has the email.apk that the new ROM has, again Long Hold on file and rename(email.apk.bak). Then go to email.apk on the External Card and Long Hold and Copy or Move and place it in the folder where email.apk should be. Might need to reboot to have it take affect.

Also. Can Mount the phone if you want and do all this though your Computer I think but maybe not, you might have to be Rooted Though phone.
