Help Exchange/Push email slow

Biaviian

On my N4 my two exchange accounts and Gmail accounts are upwards of 5 minutes behind my computer and my iPhone 4s. Also IMs on Skype and Office Communicator are upwards of 5 minutes behind. I don't recall having this issue with my GNex but maybe I did. Is this normal for Android and/or the N4?

One more thing. Often I will delete an email on my N4 (Exchange service) and it will still show as unread on my computer hours later. It is as if my N4 isn't always connected to the exchange service.

I've never experienced any delays when it came to my exchange account and gmail . Have you tried removing/adding your email accounts?

Yes, several times. I recent reverted to stock (still rooted though) and re-added the accounts and it is still the same. It isn't consistently slow but it is slow about 1/2 of the time.

Are you using WiFi? Does the Wifi indicate it is connected to google services? I know on my Elite the WiFi icon is green when connected to google and white when not connected to google. I assume the Nexus has similar color indicators.

Yes, it is on wifi. Usually the icon is blue but sometimes it is grey. Of course I posted this issue today and it has not been acting up today.

I thought it was due to me using a custom rom so I went stock but as I said above, it does it on stock too.

Ok, when it is gray, you are not connected to google services and you won't get any sync action going. So, pay attention to the WiFi icon color when this happens, I expect it will be gray when it does.

Why does that happen? Is it a problem on Google's side? Why doesn't it happen with my iPhone? Sorry for all of the questions.

Does this lack of connection to Google also cause issues with Exchange?

I don't know. I know for me it is an issue with my offices WiFi. For some reason it just doesn't connect to google services and I don't get any sync with google apps, or even facebook/twitter... so I don't use my office WiFi.

Yes, I think all sync/background stuff seems to be affected when the phone can't connect to google services.

Are you connecting to gmail or some other exchange server?

Something must be wrong with my phone. I just had two emails delayed by 13 minutes. The entire time the phone was on my table with full, blue, WiFi bars. My iPhone was sitting beside it and got the emails immediately.

I may have to give up on Android due to this. I've already lost one contract due to being late to reply because of the delay.

Are there any settings in the mail app you use with respect to how often it syncs?
