Help Exchange Won't Push

I have a new HTC Evo and have set up my Active Sync with all the correct settings. My phone will only download new emails from my Outlook Exchange account when I open Outlook on the server and do a send/receive. If it's off, I don't receive emails. I've checked with our tech guys and they say all the settings on the server are set to push emails every 15 minutes. Any ideas? Do I need to look at a third party app like Touchdown? I downloaded that and tried the free trial briefly but it didn't sync with my Exchange at all, so I removed the app.

FYI, we're on a different kind of set up...our server is off-site, and when I use Outlook at work I open it on the server through a remote desktop connection. However, my colleagues have iPhones and Exchange pushes to their phones just fine.

Please help!
Thanks,
bc

I am in the same boat. I need my work emails to push instantly. I am currently using the 30 day trial period for Touchdown app. So far so good.
I used to have to hit "refresh" for my phone to notify my of my new emails!..that just sucked! Especially when I "recieved" an email early in the morning and my phone didnt let me know until about 4pm, after I hit refresh....then like 10 new email notifications popped up!...not cool

But touchdown notifies me at the exact moment an email pops into my inbox on my computer! Very nice indeed!

If your emails didnt sync correctly, make sure your:
-username
-password
-Domain
-Server

...are all correct.

I just downloaded Touchdown and I'm still having the same issue. The emails come through...everything syncs, so I know that all the info is correct, but it's only doing it if I open Outlook on our server and do a send/receive. If I don't login to Outlook on my computer (using the remote desktop connection to our off-site server) The messages don't come to my phone. It doesn't matter if I automatically refresh or sync manually. I'm still convinced it's something in our Exchange server but I don't know what setting that could be.

I do, however, like the concept of Touchdown and that it syncs tasks. That's fantastic...and all the folders, but I still have to get the server to send everything to my phone.....

I suggest you talk to your work IT guy about this issue. Sounds like an IT person where you work should be able to sync up your phone for you.
Thats what my work did. They set it all up and did everything for me...I just picked it up and turned it on! :)

The location of Outlook (or even if you use it) doesn't matter. Outlook is just a client app. Your account is within Exchange. The odd thing is that you have to open Outlook to receive email. Your Exchange account shouldn't be relying on Outlook for the receipt of new email messages.

Why is Outlook installed on the Exchange server to begin with? You might want to start looking here. You don't mention which version of Exchange you're on.

This is also odd. I'd consider your Exchange admin as suspect, assuming that everything you've stated is correct. If that's the case, you're going to have a difficult time resolving this issue. Why are they not pushing email as it arrives?
