Sony Xperia Sirius (Z2?) and a new Sony tablet appear at the FCC, US LTE in tow
This is from before the Z2 announcement when it was still being referred to as Sirius.

You can access the rest of Verizon's website from that page, so it seems legit to me.

So if true, it looks like Sony will be altering the radio in the phone for the first time to accommodate CDMA LTE. The current specs show no CMDA capability.

I just left Verizon for AT&T, but it would be nice for Sony to make inroads to the big U.S. carriers. I'm sure AT&T will now carry it.

This is bogus - this is a link to a news/homepage portion of verizon's website. If you delete everything but "entertainment.verizon.com" from the link, you see Senator McCain talking about Russia, television news, and other technology news - none of which has to do with Verizon Wireless.

Separate question: do any of you have experience purchasing phones from the UK before they're out in the US? Could one run into issues attempting to use such a phone (due to different standards, etc.)?

according to this article Verizon wont get the z2 until October. my galaxy nexus wont survive for that long :/

No way I'm waiting that long without any assurance it will ever come. They will lose many sales as the result of this. So be it. Besides the fact that by October, the Z2 will be 'old news'.

Heard that Sony is having a difficult time bringing the phones in on its supposed launch dates. But heard also that the queues for pre orders has been going pretty much longer. I just want to know is the positive reviews on Z2 has been over-hyped? Or does it really deserve all the raves it has been receiving?

I received my Z2 on Tuesday this week.

I like it so far - taking a little getting used to after a long line of HTC handsets (to say they are all android), but steadily getting it set up as I like it.

I dont want to sound like a fan boy, so not going to wax lyrical about it, but screens good, very smooth. It`ll take me a while to get through all the options, Walkman is better (to me) than the HTC music option too.

I`m in the UK and got it on Vodafones pre order with the TV freebie.

It was originally slated (during the MWC2014 launch) for an April 11th release, trumping Samsung's S5 by a few days. The retail release will be this Thursday, May 1st, but pre-orders have been shipping for around ten days.

Z2 is great phone no doubt.Whats even bigger is its better than galaxy S5 by every standard.Unfortunately limited US availability will kill off the phone there.But rest of the world knows its better alternative than galaxy phones.
