Expected Battery Life

Hehe, Mubble I assume you mean per charge? I dont have a time machine so I think 30 hours usage per day, for me anyway, is a no-go :)

A quick update for Mike, having had Gmail sync on since yesterday and having done an hour or so of internet, some txts, some calls and a few emails my battery is sitting pretty at 67% after nearly 19 hours - All with 3G on.

Gmail updates mails as soon as they are sent/available. I suppose the amount of emails you get sent would have an effect on battery usage as you would be using the screen more, but so far I am really impressed and at this rate I see NO real reason (in battery saving terms that is) for having 3G turned off.

I still dont understand the need to have Wifi/3G always on though? Surely it is a massive security risk to have your data readily accessible over what is a very insecure connection?

I really dont understand why anyone can have a go at this phone :( It is easily THE BEST phone I have ever owned - and I have had almost all of the main protagonists at one time or another!

Sure it is NOT perfect, but with a bit of nous and some tinkering under the hood (I've found no need to root at all) you can get it setup and running to YOUR specifications WITHOUT having to do too much in the way of compromise!

That's what I was hoping to hear, With Airplane mode at night as well so it becomes an alarm clock I can't see any issues either and I think all the posts about only getting 6 hours must be watching videos or downloading porn :D

2 meetings to get out the way then it's over to carphone Warehouse for an unlocked/unbranded version running 2.2 ;)

If anyone is interested they have just dropped their price by

I've got the Telus SLCD Desire and I'm happy to report my battery life. It's actually been pretty amazing.

Here is my current uptime.

1d 8h 56m 45s since unplugged

Cell Standby 45%
Phone Idle 43%
Android system 7%
Wi-Fi 3%
Display 5%

My battery is still at 70% :D

I did something similar to what many people have been recommending to recalibrate the battery.

I fully charged to 100% until I see the green indicator light. I turn off the phone and charge for another hour or until I see the green indicator light again.

After that got this amazing battery life. I do need to mention that I always charge my phone once I get below 50-60% I never wait till it dies.

Oh, I also need to mention that I have my 7 homescreens full of widgets and my mobile APN ALWAYS on for my browsing and updates. I set my screen brightness to 25% as well as I realize this is the only % that my eyes really need.

Your cell standby and phone idle are ridiculously high. Mine are at 18 and 14%.

I can't say I've used it a TON but I have done the occasional browsing, little bit of angry birds, some txting, some calling and watched a little bit of videos.
