Root EXT4 TEST ROM for Advanced Users

I may try this, but even if I dont get a chance to do this thank you very much.

P.S. I still hate megauploads wait times :D

I will give it a go .. installed with no problems .. in the process of getting it setup the way i like it so far so good .. I will see how it goes over the next day or so

Installed with no problems. Restoring everything with Titanium Backup. I don't know if its a placebo effect but the start up to me is faster. Will report back once I get more hands on time with it.

So far so good it is working pretty quick i would like to see automatic root uninstaller added to app to standard apps but other den that :D

so I'm assuming that a wipe is recommended...that said so far so good! i'll see if i can't find some instances of lag and such and make a comparison over next few hours

hroark, is there a way/program that you know of to read the filesystem data and partition info of the phone itself, not just the sd card? thanks!

been messing with it, and trying to get the darktremor app2sd going, so far no on darktremor but the ext4 seems stable and fast once I get everything up and going we shall see.

so here's a lil update: enhanced email and market get nothing but force closes...could be peculiar instance...got another email client its working fine...haven't fixed market issue yet...otherwise though pretty quick...file access and operations have significantly improved....haven't noticed any stability issues and the battery is performing on par as before

ROM has been running smooth on this end too .. after loading I shifted apps to system , removed apps I don't use , and basic setup, does seem quicker in operation than before. I am not having any problems with market used it to do several installs so far .. not going to say about battery just yet with all the time I spent on and off wifi installing uninstalling .. now that I am setup to how I like it I will see how it goes after a day or so of normal usage

ok after a bit of setup and messing around I would say the ext4 support is good, though I am not so happy with link2sd. I have better free space and more apps by moving them to the /system/app what I would like to see is darktremor app2sd work, but I was unable to get it to work I flashed the beta4 listed and when I go to check if its installed I get no response.

what does apps2sd do, have you ever had it working?

does it use init.d

I have never had it working on the prevail, but I have used it on my optimus M
here is a link to it. it can explain way better then I can.

[Script][A2SD] Darktremor 2.7.5.3 Beta 04 [N1] (01/29/2011) - xda-developers

Yes it does use init.d

just out of curiosity, did you try getting it working with Shabby kernel RC1

Shabby implements init.d differently than me, and I am not sure which one is better

To be honest I am not even sure if my init.d works, no one has tested it yet

no have not tried shabbykernel rc1 I wanted to test out the ext4 first. I doubt his would be compatible with your ext4 at this time.

no it would not be, I was just wondering if you had RC1 before hand and tried getting apps2sd to work, or if anyone that is using RC1 got it working

if it works with RC1 than I can always change my kenrel to do init.d the same way Shabby does it or Shabby can add the ext4 modules to his and make an RC2

darktremor a2sd uses bash scripts and there hasn't been a way to get bash working on the prevail. i have only a cursory knowledge of linux and scripting but i believe that's a problem.

Ya, if no one tests it in a few days I will, for now I want to get an accurate account of how your set up works for me.
:D

I got very tired of link2sd so I redid my set up ran the shabbykernel rc1 put a2sd on and will commence testing but it isnt looking that great, In the install the only marked thing was install complete, I may have to odin back to stock and then start again.
