Extended battery found.

good find but why does it look warped or bubbled the gold covering looks like there is something wrong with it

It's not warped, though it is a bit wavy. I thought about returning it, but since it's from the UK, I didn't want to go through the hassle. The battery is working fine, so far. Keeping my fingers crossed. :D

try playing a game that will stress the phone and see how hot it gets just an idea. thanks for the updates.

Yeah, I would rather just charge the stock battery twice a day than use that battery with no proper back cover. :stupid:

Even a portable charger would be better.

meh - I had one of those batteries for my admire. it came with its own back cover that was deep enough for the extra width. the guy in this video bought the wrong one.

also, it gave me an extra 10 or so hours so I could get through the whole day with the phone working constantly - all data connections working, listening to mixzing and watching movies all day long while I'm at work.

was def worth the 10 bucks it cost me.

I will buy this batt and try it.

This battery is exactly the same size as the stock one, no need for another back cover. I bought the battery linked in the OP, so I didn't buy the wrong one, if that's what you were trying to say. I bought the one I wanted, after questioning the seller as to compatibility. Once I have it charged to capacity again, I'll post results. I do have to say that I was impressed with getting over 20 hrs on 70% charge down to 20%.

Thank you for testing out this battery. I get decent battery life with the stock battery (some reason lately I've been getting awesome battery life) but I would love to have even more battery life. Keep us updated! Also keep note of how the temperature is.

:D :D :D

I got 5hrs 30 minutes from 20% to 5 %. It's charging now, it does take longer to charge than the stock battery, I imagine because of the larger capacity. I'll post tomorrow about battery life and how much it heats up playing a game (probably Temple Run).

That is pretty good life just right there. I know when I hit 20% on my stock battery I probably only have an hour or so left (heavy usage). Very interesting.

I have a question regarding other extended batteries for other phones. I know higher capacity batteries are thicker to the point they need a new back cover to accommodate the larger battery. So once you do that the phone case will not fit. Are there normally any new cases that can fit over the phone with the fatter battery?

This gold battery seems especially appealing to me since it offers more capacity with no added thickness, meaning I can use my current phone case.

no, no, no....

I was replying to the people who saw that youtuber and said "NO WAY!"

Those thick extended batteries usually come with their own special back covers to make up for the extra width. The guy in the video bought from the wrong supplier if he didn't get one and had to cut his cover to make it fit. I have bought several of them for 4 different metro phones and always got the back cover with them.

I know that gold battery fits with the stock cover. Even if it needed a special cover I would still get one (as long as it was included).

My main concern batt wise is my shit is working @ 100% all day long at work, GPS, 4G, bluetooth for audio, wifi and (usually) mixzing playing .flac audio or .mp4 video. Sometimes TuneIn or Google Play or IheartRadio, but everything is usually maxed out for the 10 hours during the day.

right now with the stock battery I get through lunch time @ about 15 or 20 and then charge up in the afternoon. once I get home my Juice Defender ratchets everything down till wake up next day.

If this battery can get me through the day it is way worth a 20 dollar bill.

Long story a little bit longer, My post wasn't aimed at you. It was aimed at the people who saw that video and freaked about having to cut a hole in their back cover. Those batteries usually come with their own.

/should have said all this back then and saves us some grief I guess.

I noticed that most cases would stretch to fit the thicker battery.

case as in the p/leather ones. sometimes you would really have to stretch them to fit camera/speaker holes, etc.

the plastic holster types never did like the thicker batteries. one of my admires popped out and screen-shattered while I was walking the dog.

my attain also popped out, but i was in the middle of a mosh pit, so I can't totally blame that on the thick battery, even thiough it had the same problem as the admire.

FYI, after 4 hours 14 minutes I'm down to 90% That's with 3 or 4 calls, wifi on, everything else off, and Gmail syncing. I'll probably not be using the phone much, so I expect battery life to improve - wifi off.

Edit : after 9 hours 33 minutes, with light use, it's at 64%
Edit 2 : normally, when you buy an oversized battery, a cover is included. I used to have a wildfire s, with an oversized battery, and a soft gel cover is what I used. It worked ok.
Edit 3 : after 11 hours 43 minutes, with light use, it's at 53%
Edit 4: after 14 hours 14 minutes, it's at 43%
Edit 5: after 1 day 59 minutes, it's at 28% (overnight - deep sleep) After it goes down to 5%, I'll recharge and play some games to check and see if it overheats.

Thanks for the updates. Hmm... starting to wonder if this gold battery is worth it or not. 64 at nine hours is not bad but considering it takes longer to charge, I'm not sure. Stock battery only takes 1hr (maybe 1hr & half sometimes), just how much longer does this gold battery take to charge? The info about this battery says six hours, that is much longer than stock for sure.

Need more updates to make up my mind. Thank you again Chicle!

Thanks for this thread, bought one from Amazon. Can't wait for its arrival.

Oh please make sure to share your experience with this battery once you get it. :D
I have enough on my Amazon gift card balance but I'm such a cheapskate that I need a lot more info before buying this.

Thank you.

I bought this about a month ago-
New 1800mAh Battery USB Charger Stand Holder 4 LG Motion 4G MS770 MetroPCS Phone | eBay

The "universal" charger is a bit iffy, definitely a Chinese-market item that would never meet UL in the states. However the battery has been solid, I've been using it as my main battery in the phone and keeping the OE one in my wallet as a spare. Although I'm never far from power and keep the phone plugged in as much as possible, I'd say the battery has been holding up very well.

Also FWIW I still have my old Optimus M here with a couple of batteries. Comparing the M and Motion batteries, they are the same size but the locating tabs are different and the contact positions are slightly offset so I doubt they are directly interchangeable. That said I have not tried swapping them.

Going by your edit number 3 it looks like you get 1 hour and 42 minutes more than my stock battery. I'm currently at 53% after 10 hours 1 minute with 1hr 19min of screen time. Of course I don't really know your setup or usage comparison between both our phones.
My setup:
  • 1.2Ghz CPU (under clocked from stock 1.5)
  • 30% screen brightness (may have been 50% for 10 to 20 minutes)
  • No syncing ( I do sync Google calendar and dropbox only when I enable it very rarely)
  • No front key light
  • No vibration on touch
  • Data disabled when I'm not using it

With these settings I'm getting better battery life than when I first got the phone. So I'm not in a huge hurry to buy the gold battery, but sure is tempting though.

I can easily pull 24 hours on the stock battery. I don't see why no one else can't

I have Background Data enabled, as well as AutoSync which keeps my contacts and calendars synced with my "cloud". I'm not sure how often it syncs, it seems to sync/push at least every time I change something on the device or computer.

I have other software + widgets that periodically broadcast throughout the day, like weather widget, Google Now (which has been really impressive thus far, bringing up bus schedules for me as soon as I approach a stop), Pandora, etc. I tend to actually use these programs, Pandora on and streaming sometimes hours in a row. Google Now is constantly live.

And speaking of Google Now, and other location services for that matter, I'd like to be able to leave my WiFi on full time to assist in location. I can't right now, though, since I'm making it by roughly 3/4 of my day with the battery I have.

I don't use any fancy live wallpapers, but I do play games, and since I'm often outside those games are played with full brightness.

And If I don't feel like gaming, it's not uncommon to kick back and surf my favorite forums, or browse YouTube and Netflix.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining about the battery the Motion came with. I understand I demand a lot, and I'm glad it works as well as it does; but to use the Motion as I'd like to, and still be able to make it through a full day, the extra ~1A/h this battery provides is well worth any extra warmth and extra charge time. I charge my phone every night while I sleep, so that's not a concern in the slightest.

At less than half the price of an extra Motion battery, I'll give it a shot.

TL;DR=Some people use the phone a lot, and the extra juice is worth $20 shipped

Motion battery is fine, it works as intended. For some of us it's not enough. You have to realize that everyone use phone differently, there are some of us who get calls every 15 min. Some of us use it for GPS and we visit low signal areas. Browse internet, text etc. It's not too much fun when you have a dead phone while you are expecting an important phone call from clients.

After using for a while, I notice that I get about a 10 hr improvement in battery life over the stock battery. I haven't tested for overheating from games, but for regular use (light, in my case) it doesn't overheat. I also don't know about longevity (obviously). I probably won't have time to test games this weekend, but when I do, I'll post results.

After 8 hours 3 minutes, I'm down to 28%. A lot heavier use today. GPS, bluetooth, and wifi all were used today. That's what the stock battery has given me, so it looks like something is making this weaker. Still it's good to have a spare. I'll keep posting results with this battery, if there's interest. Let me know.

Theres no point of a larger battery if it doesnt have its own custom "otter box" or fits in the same space - metropcs insurance doesnt cover scuffs andcracks from being in your pocket.

This battery is not oversized, the stock cover fits perfectly. + the phone is in a nice case.
